I think that eventually people will chill out. Most just need to be educated because they've only learned about cannabis from propaganda.

Plus, everyone smoking at once will cause the THC levels in the upper atmosphere to skyrocket, causing Global Mellowing. The planet will descend into Woodstock, times a thousand. Billion.

Same way we treat anyone with a "drug problem" - like some fucking sicko loser. Pre-employment drug testing will continue.

agreed. I feel it's unconstitutional to say what people can or cant do to their bodies.

We will all die. No exceptions. The sick and the healthy. Just let me be.

If Marijuana is LEGAL, such as alcohol or cigs, I don't think they would be able to not hire you SOLELY because the THC in your urine. I also think that law should be put into place that prohibits employers from using tests that include THC detectors. Even though pot will still treated like alcohol (won't be able to smoke a joint on break like a cig), they shouldn't be able to stop you from you from using at home. Unfortunately I can still see employers discriminating against open pot-smokers, just like they do with people having prior arrests even you didn't get charged for a crime.

I think that older folks, the Baby Boomers and the like, are going to continue to judge those who smoke. For them, there has always been a stigma attached to marijuana and those who smoke it. I think that once they all die, though, everyone will be chill about it.

A number of my baby boomer friends would chuckle at this -- these are the children of the 60's we're talking about here!! The attitudes I've personally heard from them range from "Not my thing, but it's stupid for pot to be illegal; whatever floats your boat.." to "Pass me that thing!"

My mistake, I should clarify: the boring, not cool Baby Boomers, aka the preppy suburban parents I am forced to be around.

You might be surprised...I was shocked at the Weeds-esque reality of the suburbs

I live in the suburbs. Not so much, here.

The groundwork is already laid to keep smokers out of the public, but there are other ways to consume!

And just being able to transport the stuff will alleviate hubby's paranoia. Even WITH the card, he's a freak on the way home form my farmacy!

And our buddy can grow some good stuff. And kids will learn it's not all bad.

This will be the first time something like this has happened, where an item has been illegal for our entire lifetime, not like Prohibition, which was just a few year.

I've heard that companies can decide not to hire you based on just even smoking ciagarettes.

In a free society I should hope so. Since America isn't a free society then it'll be up to the government to decide.

I'd say they won't be any more biased or any less biased than they currently are...on average.

The same way people react to people who drink. You smoke too much: you are a dumb ass, you smoke to have fun and not too often: more power to you.

i guarantee you that there will be vigilante fucking cock-smoking-cops that will still harass people who are smoking.

Yeah, like they take it all personal when they see you smoking a blunt at a coffeehouse, as if you're garnishing their wages

[–]minimalmindman 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

because in a way, it will be garnishing their wages... you see, the law organizations have come to base their budgets on money made from busts, etc... they make money keeping shit illegal.

False. More tobacco-use = More emphysema, lung cancer, stroke, etc.

If the government is paying for it, they'll still have an incentive to keep their costs down. And they've already shown a willingness to regulate personal behavior "for your own good." (That's why we have this stupid drug war--to protect us from ourselves.)
