I don't think you get higher but your bowl will last longer if you save green for others. If you are good at smoking weed you should have no problem getting a cherry going, which will make the bowl last longer and have green till the end.

Milking the bowl is using the airtight characteristic of a glass on glass bowl to concentrate the smoke in the bottom of the pipe, before pulling the bowl and taking the rip. The hardest parts with milkrips are A. inhaling the whole thing without coughing or B. without swallowing any of the smoke.

Does it get you higher? I don't know about higher, but it gets you high faster, because you're taking in more THC in a single rip. If you can manage to hold it and not cough, a'la hashbean or others I've seen, you'll get roasted, for sure. If you do cough, the oxygen deprivation causes increased rush, but it's not 'higher', just a head rush coupled with the high.

And yes, torching it wastes weed. Light the edge of the bowl and let it cherry itself- grinders are perfect for this. And those of you who keep seeing green, unburned bud in the water- the trick is, use a small, un-broken up piece of nug just big enough to block the hole well (like the size of a piece of glass gauze or a glass screen.) When the bowl's done, it'll cherry up down there and pull through at the end. MUCH better than using glass screens or wasting unburned ground bud pulled through into the water from the bottom of the bowl.

You're being too introspective. No, torching it doesn't waste, but it's really unnecessary. Smoke slowly, don't pressure yourself to hit and pass too quickly.

Astonishingly, it seems there's a lack of consensus on what torching is. To me me torching is cherrying a large percentage of the bowl, to the point that there is a large column of smoke (if you don't inhale quickly enough) and it's burning quite fast.

If you torch it too much, you will waste weed, because there's no way to inhale all of the smoke. Smoking it in the fashion where the greatest percentage of smoke gets inhaled will get you the highest, because it wastes the least weed. You can call it milking if you want - I call it efficient.

if you're using a nice metal grinder the weed should cherry fast. torching it would only waste it. i don't know what milking is, when you freeze the beer mug and shotgun a joint and drink? i didn't think i got that stoned from it.
