This upsets me. Essentially the cheif of police is acting like a political player... The citizens say stop worrying about pot and the chief goes, "well I personally hate marijuana and I don't care what the community wants, I'm going to increase the busts to make a point"

Insanity over substances provides police with a lot of special powers and excuses, including seizure where they straight just steal shit and sell it for cash.

The police are good in theory, but since the whole legal system is intertwined it seems like there is no real oversight. If you get away with suing the police, essentially the state just lost the money, and that means cutting some jobs etc... There is an incentive to just let them be abbusive with their powers until it becomes a huge public event, only then will it get properly dealt with. maybe.

Individual police officers need to be liable for their actions when on the job that are not direct orders, not the police department or state.

They should have to go through the exact same court and legal system that a non-police officer would, not have it reviewed by other cops and brushed under the rug.

Just yesterday I saw a cop pull up to 711 diagonally infrong of the store taking up 2 spots and his front half was taking up a no parking section. I thought there must have been some small theft going on or something.

In reality he just went in for some tea and a hot dog...

I was so mad when I saw this, how come he isn't held up to the same laws we all have to uphold. Everyone is equal in this country, he is no exception. I knew even if I recorded him and showed it to the police they wouldnt charge him on a damn thing like they should.

But soon as I slowly roll a stop sign on my campus when it's completely dead and safe, I have to pay a 450 dollar ticket

I love the Mayor's assertion: changes in local pot law enforcement need to also come from the "federal level" - and he says it all with a smirk.

I can't help but think this dipshit would be screaming to high heaven (PTP) if someone asserted that some other federal law restricted the local police department's state or local law enforcement on a different matter.

Regardless of what anyone feels about pot laws we clearly have a law enforcement "problem" is this country when the police and politicians believe they can selectively enforce the laws or simply ignore them if they please.

And when they are gleeful about harassing people who seek to feel better.

Ah yes, the law enforcement equivalent of the evangelist's cry of "we answer to a higher power."

If pot is their lowest priority, and they're actually doing more about it, that must mean they have too much free time and resources. Time to cut their funding!

This is simple, but hard to really get your head around.

The legal system is all about the low lying fruit. It's easier to bust some stoner pot head than an gun toting crack kingpin with a civil rights lawyer.

Look at it this way - punish the innocent, protect the guilty.

The last sentence of this report is the most important: protocol has skewed the numbers higher.

Of course the ONLY explanation is that there are now three times more users. /s

FYI, you don't need the /s here on reddit like you did on digg.

At the end of the report they attribute it to the fact that police are required to include marijuana, if found, in the report even if it has nothing to do with the actual arrest

Which is apparently a new thing, probably started by the police chief and mayor. Lucky for everyone, those are elected positions.

To server and protect, unless there's more money to be made in screwing you over.

What's the deal with joints? I've always thought they were dirty smelly wasteful things. Pardon the pun. Why not just use some blown glass?

Edit: note to DIGG refugees: on Reddit it's considered really douchebaggish to downvote simple questions and honest opinions.

They're portable and fairly easy to hide.

The weed hasn't been activated and won't do anything to you. It has to be heated at least once before it can really do anything to you.

[–]2600hz 0 points1 point ago*

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Unless you recently ate a high fat meal. d9-THC is lipid soluble, and while the most common way to get it from cannabis is to heat it to above 315F, consuming plant matter at the same time as something high in fat will indeed allow you to absorb a portion of the compound.

It's not a question of needing heat to "activate" weed -- instead it's basic biochemistry: the d9-THC found in cannabis has rather poor bio-availability, so you either need to heat said plant matter to the boiling point of the compound (approx 315F IIRC) or immerse it in a solvent (in this case, fat) so as to extract the desired substance from its surroundings.

That said, my original post was something of a joke, but I apparently failed to make that clear...

I undersand what you're referring to in theory but the practical fact is that you can get a monster buzz of of uncooked bud. It needs to be cured, not necessarily cooked. If you eat a fresh bud it won't do much, but if it's been cured for a while you'll get plenty high.

I prefer pipes - not just because they waste less, but because I'm too lazy to roll a joint.

I feel they are much safer while driving or while walking my dog, and I like to keep one in my cigarette pack at all times :)

[–]SumErgoCogito 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

My girlfriend and her friend used to get a pack of cigs and take out about 5 of them. They would empty them out and repack them as spliffs, then put them back into the pack in a random spot. Surprise, spliff!

[–]SC2MASTER 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Haha great idea, until you accidentally bum out one of your spliffs

[–]imakeshitup 6 points7 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I asked some guy for a cigarette once, after he left I lit it up and started smoking it. It was just a regular cigarette, but that would have been cool if it was spliff.

[–]SumErgoCogito 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Ohhhh, good point. I suppose you could try to smell it, though it may look strange to the person you're bumming one to. <Sniff> <sniff> <Looks up> "You can have this one."

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

i agree they're wasteful, but there's nothing better than sinkin back into a couch or grassy knoll or car seat or what-have-you with a joint.

just isn't the same with blown glass.

for the record, i mostly use blown glass and almost never use joints. i still think they're great.

[–]2600hz 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Portability mainly.

That and convenience. If one is to stumble upon some unexpected drugs, it is easier to find a pack of rolling papers than it is to happen upon a decent piece.
