Dude. Kung-Fu Panda spoiler alert.

It's the process of coming to recognize your own soul that you are so alienated from.

I don't know why but I read that in Hank Hills voice. And the part where you italicized spoiler alert is when he gets really serious and pronunciates every letter carefully.

You skipped the meta-trip where you learn a lesson about the SELF and how SELF is an illusion and you are everything and everything is you. The final step is right though: Self Love. But since "self" is an illusion, what you're left with is simply LOVE.

That's it. that's the entire fucking enchilada right there. The hardest realization is the simplest and you've known it all along. Surprise! It's pretty funny, really. Heh.

The truth is that's not the end though, it's simply the end of the beginning. :)

That's it exactly :)

Oh man that's brilliant.. really got me emotional, which never happens on reddit

I skipped it because I didn't get to experience it yet.. I hope to god I get there

The Beatles had it right, didn't they?

[–]PapaTua 1 point2 points ago

Well, kind of. "All you need is Love" is a bit hippy dippy. You can't live on love alone, you need to have a vocation and income and eat food and shelter. I've always interpreted their song as all you need is to receive love, and I don't think that's right.

The love I'm talking about is giving love. Have love in your heart for everything and everyone, everything else is a distraction. When you're in love with life and all it has to offer you're at peace and content.

Of course, maybe I'm just misinterpreting their song in more of a hippy commune context then was intended.

I probably did have it though.. I was just coming out of my friend's apartment and realized I was the expanding universe. My body was disintegrating into the surroundings, culminating at the crown chakra. Instead of letting go however I freaked out and got a panic attack that I'm going to die and ended up resisting it, keeping my body intact, taking a lot of benzos and passing out. It was a downer ending to an otherwise beautiful trip.. fuck my life. Later I realized I was resisting the infamous ego death. Now ever since I trip I try to be more in control and I know it's not the way to go. I probably need someone new to do it with, whom I really trust.. I guess my enlightenment will have to wait :(

This isn't avatar: the last airbender. You're not locked out of the Avatar state, you just have to re-learn how to let go. Perhaps a change of venue and company is in order. Have you ever tripped alone?

[–]eff-snarf[S] 0 points1 point ago

Tripped once with the sunset, tripped another once or twice alone but nothing fancy happened, I didn't go deep. It's very hard for me to spend time alone as it is (that is, without interweb distractions), the idea of tripping alone is almost terrifying to me.

I didn't break through though because I didn't get the lessons right yet.. can't really show patience towards others while tripping, can't give compassion as it is. I know this isn't a 12 step program and everything I say is meaningless conceptualizations, but still, I'm not there yet psychologically

Perhaps a change of venue and company is in order

Apparently this is not my last birth

Poorly said. The journey is never over dude. "Self love" isn't an endpoint. It's a beginning point. And once you 'have' it your journeys are going to be more fulfilling. Personally learning to know and love myself isn't the only reason I take psychedelics - there's an entire universe out there that we're a part of.

Well said.

Good on you!

Don't fear God,

don't fear death,

what's good is easy to obtain, and

what's terrible is easy to endure.

You know, I'm not sure. It's called Tetrapharmakos or "Four-part-cure". It's to help live the happiest possible life. I throw the quote around everywhere haha!

I translate it to mean 'Don't worry about the judgement of your actions or the aftermath, all that matters is that you do what is noble and what makes both you and others happy. Striving for all that is good and brushing whatever's got you down is generally easy if you look at it in the right light.

[–]eff-snarf[S] 0 points1 point ago

good to hear!

set and setting, set and setting

[–]kohm 0 points1 point ago

You're already that person.. you just need to realize it ;)

[–]Slaughterer 1 point2 points ago

Excuse me, but what does that even mean? How is the journey over when you "love yourself"? How do you define this love? Nutritional care? Emotional care? Not doing hard things? Doing hard things? It seems a lot of problems in this world are caused by self love. How about some self less?

[–]chungy 3 points4 points ago

I took it to mean the opposite of self-hate.

[–]CoyotePeyote 0 points1 point ago

yeah I didn't do any of those things it said I did

[–]eff-snarf[S] 1 point2 points ago

some people seek peak experiences everywhere around them, in what may appear to be self harm or a drive to self destruct, but that's a misinterpretation of what they're really looking for.

I guess you are a different category, not having to deal with the same issues, same past, same self perception

[–]Slaughterer 0 points1 point ago

haha I love the statement followed by the judgement. Typical Reddit class.

You can only learn from the past. Anything else is folly I say, FOLLY!

Because the journey never began.
