So b34nz is one of the bigger assholes I've ever met, and despite being the mod of r/marijuana, he seems to stand for everything opposite of what we stand for.

I've unsubscribed from r/marijuana, downvoted everything b34nz has said, and am looking forward to making r/cannabis a great experience for everyone.

Exactly. I originally left r/marijuana because most of it was just stupid, which is a problem on a lot of the popular reddits. If it gets bad here we should just start r/tetrahydrocannabinol so it can be the new r/cannabis.

im looking out for the interests of professional legalization, r/cannabis had its place, and so did r/marijuana, mixing the two would be like trying to drink gin with anything... it just ends up tasting like ass, more ass and a mouth-full of fucking pine needles

This is not the subreddit you are looking for (as a replacement for MJ at least). It seams to me that

cannabis = serious business

mj = I got high and.....

Both have their place but both should be separate. I think it might be worth updating your post (which is the no1 "new home" post) to mention this in some way.

I must admit I think they both truly have their place. I love r/Marijuana for the weird n wacky random info and r/Cannabis for the good quality informative blow by blow news from around the world / states.

I also just unsubscribed from r/marijuana. I'm hoping MJ subreddit will get a new mod and I can re-add it to my frontpage.

I liked the differences between MJ and Cannabis subreddits - they were slightly different communities, both of which blended well on my front page. I'm disappointed that we seem to be losing MJ subreddit.

I'm actually kind of against this; I really enjoyed the duality of the two separate subreddits.

Even if beans is a douche, why should he get to ruin a whole subreddit? Reddit is set up to not allow moderators to ruin shit like some crappy forum.

When he posted the results of the mod election, he made an issue about making sure none of the new mods could take "his" subreddit away by removing him as a mod. Some people were a little disturbed by that attitude and said so. He got pissed and called off the mod election entirely.

It's not like I loved r/marijuana being filled with ridiculous self-posts. Like you guys, I thought that all the self-posts were cluttering up and making r/marijuana much worse. But at the same time, there were plenty of self-posts that were fun to read, or some were legitimate questions about cannabis and they needed answers, and in my mind, those types of self-posts are perfectly fine and add to the community.

I agree with that. I often made the the case that people should stop posting self posts like "you might enjoy this youtube video while baked".. we have /r/video for that. People seem to get pretty pissed when I point out their crappy, irrelevant posts though.
