Ask him if he would consider playing scarlet>fire and ripple for an Israeli Army soldier who will be at the last three NY shows of the upcoming Furthur tour.

pleaseee

peace and good fortune to you brother. I hope things in your part of the world stay sane for you.

You might ask him if he has considered doing an improvisation-oriented project with peer-level musicians outside the usual Grateful Dead family. I enjoy the familiar music, but my respect for him as a musician is such that I would enjoy seeing him outside his comfort zone much more, playing with highly skilled people who aren't working for him (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I know part of the point of the way he has things set up now is that he got tired of herding cats, musically speaking, in the Dead; but there's a different level of respect among non-Deadheads in general now than there has ever been, and I suspect Phil himself might be shocked at the quality of musician such a project would attract.

ask about past memories... favorite run of shows or something to that extent. maybe ask about what he thinks of music today compared to music from the 60's and 70's. does he have anything to say about phish or mike gordon? phil's current favorite band?

Definitely about his new venue, does he see it as a regular stop for people or more in a levon helm ramble fashion.

Ask if if he'll do an AMA on here.

Man. That would be awesome.

came in to say this.

[–]MrDangerthe doodah man 2 points3 points ago

Well, how'd it go?

[–]StrangeCaptain 1 point2 points ago

ask him: wassup?

[–]JournoThrowaway[S] 1 point2 points ago

Will do!

[–]MrDangerthe doodah man 1 point2 points ago

Tell him to stop by and say hello! You may want to ask him about the rumors of his pending retirement.

[–]JournoThrowaway[S] 0 points1 point ago

Good one. I wonder where these rumors are coming from... Do you know, by any chance?

[–]MrDangerthe doodah man 0 points1 point ago

They're coming from r/GD, at least that's where I heard it. Another good reason to visit our humble corner of the information super highway. He can set us straight.

Ask him if there's any chance of Furthur recording a new album with any of the new songs like Mountain Song, High on a Mountain, 7 Hills of Gold, Colors of the Rain, etc. Also ask him if he still ever visits Haight Ashbury anymore/when was the last time he stopped by to see their old house at 710 Ashbury

Please ask why he has switched to playing his Modulus more than his Ritter. I have serious bass envy of both his basses but it seemed like the modulus has had more stage time recently than the ritters.

did he come up with the opening riff to the other one? it blows me away every time i hear it

[–]mkhaytman 2 points3 points ago

Ask him his opinion on "current" jambands like Phish and Umphrey's McGee. I'd love to know what he thinks of the jam scene today.

Can Furthur come to Canada? Please?

[–]MrCompletelya natural-born easement 4 points5 points ago

they can all just crash at Lemieux's house. he said it'd be cool

[–]R04CH 1 point2 points ago

Maybe it's already on your list, but can you see if he will answer any questions about whether or not this is his last tour with Furthur? I've heard rumors it may be :( and if he says it is, tell him his fans love him and are happy to have had him touring as long as he has.

Have fun meeting a music legend and all-around good guy!

[–]JournoThrowaway[S] 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, I plan on asking him that. ... And thanks! I can't wait to talk to him. Getting very excited...

[–]robjob 1 point2 points ago

If you could ask him what it was like playing with Dylan, that would be pretty sweet.

[–]maximinus-thrax 0 points1 point ago

1: When was his last psychedelic experience?

2: What one single piece of advice would he give to other bass players?

[–]mgoflashthe heart has its beaches 1 point2 points ago

Ask him if on Born Cross Eyed was the last time he ever played the trumpet.

[–]andtheniwastrees 1 point2 points ago

What's the future look like with Furthur?

[–]MarkBC13 Points 0 points1 point ago

Ask him about his rig! How does he get those clear notes with such a booming bass tone?

[–]JournoThrowaway[S] 1 point2 points ago

Hi guys! Haven't checked this in awhile, but the interview went really well — only had about 25 minutes — and I'm writing the article as we speak. I'll post the story when I'm finished. Thanks for all your feedback, and hey, look! I'm a mod now! Thanks, guys!
