I have the same feeling, My grammer sucks but i try to do my best but people keep poking at it with a stick and bringing it up.

I was on here for 6-7 months and deleted it because i could no longer take the grammer nazi's and the vast amount of people who wanted unresonable crazy laws put in place or take away laws that are very easy to follow.

I would say something like hydrogen is better then electric cars and people would link to some crazy mans site and act like i said that they suck a dogs dick.

I kept forgetting that reddit is not a place filled with resonable, real world viewing, seeing from multiple sides on a issue non stuck up assholes, i know there are many who are smart and don't resort to calling me a idiot when i present a valid researched argument and really can see from my point of view but they are shunned out by the fuck the "insert some crap that causes no problems to 99% of the people in their country" type of people.

So now i am just a troll i don't give a fuck about anything on this site, this is my last arguement and it makes me feel good about it.

The only post I've seen from you is a pic of NPH and I'm amazed you got over 200 votes for it. This site is based on value and depends on users submitting valuable content that adds to the site. There are only very rare situations where a downvote seems appropriate. Maybe for a particularly callous and offensive comment, but I prefer the philosophy of just leaving comments alone unless it's something I feel positively about and want to upvote for insight, humor, or some other intangible. I'm still a little surprised that downvotes flow as freely as they do, especially when I see a comment of mine which answered a question with a personal opinion or an explanation of my experience clearly stated as subjective but has received multiple downvotes. Some people just use the system differently and will choose to downvote instead of respond with a different opinion and open dialog.

The good thing? Karma doesn't actually do much except maybe get your comments more widely read. But! The more votes (up or down) you have, the more people's minds you've touched. Who knows what influence that may have in the long run.

Wow... your last paragraph is extremely insightful, especially the last two sentences. I've been having a DavidHausen feeling lately as well, but I really think you're on to something.

I think this is just a landing pad for plenty of super nerds (super nerds are not a bad thing). But I think some of the super nerds are insecure, and once they get a dose of feeling cool from telling people off it's like a drug. I find almost any time I've attempted making a post it gets shut down immensely. The content and how valuable it is to reddit is not even relevant, it's people freaking out for what they ASSUME my intentions were for posting, or for being a female, or because they'd rather look at cat pictures (i guess?). Oh the irony that you, of all people, misunderstand what a reddit power user is.

We have the Hive Mind which shifts like a mediocrity sandbank on the river of shit we have here, but it's not power users at all. People are desperate to herd, and always watchful not to stick out, but reddit is just random in it's memeness. Anyone that sticks around long enough to try to control it usually loses interest in the end.

I have been thinking the same for the last weeks, and have seriously considered leaving this community. I keep whittling down into smaller and smaller subreddits because of the stupid mob mentality that is starting to take over many of them.

I'm sick of being bullied out of my opinion, because any time anyone disagrees on this site, they will downvote you. It doesn't matter whether you have the best argument in the world.

As someone who doesn't care for the debate on legalizing marijuana, I still like seeing good points for its legalization. I am a fan of Obama, but I still upvote posts that point out his faults. Because that's what you're supposed to do. Read the reddiquette if you think otherwise.

No shit, and they enforce them. Reddit has a hands off policy, including hands of of mods, which is a bad idea. I've had folks say it's a free speech issue, but that's exactly my argument. Douchebag mods have shut down free speech in some subreddits, and allowing that is the antithesis of free speech.

violentacrez freely admits to trolling, and is allowed to mod. He doesn't like my arguments (I wonder why) so he sends me some insults. That takes its natural course, so the troll sends me a personal message that I've been banned from one of his subreddits, not that I care though, because I don't use any of his subreddits, but it's a perfect example of why you don't give trolls mod powers.

Nothing wrong with banning someone who gets off on trolling. They can always come back better behaved, or tire of getting banned and go back to 4chan or youtube.

I know how reddit works, I'm saying that it doesn't have to be like that. I'm saying it's not a superior model, it's an inferior one. The comment system is fantastic, the policy of letting a troll run a site within this site isn't.
