I feel like this is too fucked up to upvote. This is either a miserable failure or a true conquering of this meme.

If the nations of the world decided to end all life on earth, would it be possible? by PINKMONKEY24in askscience

You are correct, but just to clear up one myth, this is from the Wikipedia article on cockroaches:

"It is popularly suggested that cockroaches will "inherit the earth" if humanity destroys itself in a nuclear war. Cockroaches do indeed have a much higher radiation resistance than vertebrates, with the lethal dose perhaps 6 to 15 times that for humans. However, they are not exceptionally radiation-resistant compared to other insects, such as the fruit fly."

You can also spend a lot of your time on Sunday making egg sandwiches for the rest of the week. Then you're prepared, ya turkey!

Can it be a rule that when posting we dont give any specifics about the bill? by morewafflesin watchingcongress

If you mean that the OP of each bill should not offer his or her own opinion of the bill, except as a comment afterward, then I agree very strongly.

You're right, I'm wrong. Thanks for pointing that out, I never read all of Luke. This doesn't change my beliefs, but you've shown me that I need to read/reread the four gospels before I argue much further.

Does any of that support the idea that you go to either Heaven or Hell after you die depending on what you did during your life?

[–]AngryPhil[S] 1 point2 points ago

Indeed. I think a lot of people don't realize that doing unto others doesn't mean be nice to everybody. Sometimes you have to be very aggressive toward people for their own good. You've got to be careful about that though.

Also, when following the golden rule, you must take into consideration all the people who will be affect by your decision, not just that one person. It gets complicated.

Am I a Christian? by AngryPhilin Christianity

[–]AngryPhil[S] 1 point2 points ago

I'm certainly not athiestic. Agnostic if anything. I believe in something I call god (lower case intended) as a naturally occurring phenomena made manifest by the universe, and I believe that God is a personification of this god, a figure of peach not to be taken literally.

I think Jesus saw it the same way, as I see reinforced by John 16:25

"Though I AM SPEAKING FIGURATIVELY, a time is coming when i will no longer use this kind of language, but will tell you plainly about my father."

Since this view, by removing the mythological aspect, is compatible with our current scientific knowledge, I believe there will be more and more people agreeing with us. If there's not a name for us, there should be.
