What trivial act would you like to ban or make illegal? Personally, I would like to outlaw public speakers who start off by saying, "I can't hear you!" or "Let's try that again!" by danger_mcboomin AskReddit

Someone did this in my dorm building in college. That damned thing went off all weekend.

To the people sending me messages that I'm a dickhead for complaining about people, shouldn't tell other people what to do, go fuck myself, etc.

This is where we see the large faction of redditors for whom criticism is never ever valid, unless it's against the concept of criticism itself.

And as for those of you condemning me for wanting to outlaw trivial things, it's hyperbole and sarcasm.

And this is where we see the large faction of redditors who are literalist idiots.

all 212 votes in favor were Democrats.

That's not what "voting as a bloc" means.

The final bill passed with no Republican support, while 35 House Democrats broke with their party leadership to also oppose the bill.

That's Republicans voting as a bloc, and Democrats split. Per usual.

At any rate, clearly they were a bunch of chicken-shits with visions of ads swirling in their heads like this: "[ominous music] [Name of Democrat] voted to bring terrorists to our shores. Can you trust someone like that? I'm [name of Republican], and I approve this message." And the Republicans were thinking the same thing, but with glee. All that means is that most Democratic congressmen are spineless, which should come as no surprise by now. The point is that you seem to have no problem specifically blaming Obama for it anyway.

Isn't that the entire issue with Guantanamo? Whether you support keeping terrorism suspects there (status quo) or oppose keeping terrorism suspects there? I mean, that's a more affirmative statement than supporting keeping it open. That's saying you support keeping it open and keeping terrorism suspects there.

He did try to close it — which would mean we bring the prisoners into the normal justice system, put them through normal trials, etc. But, quelle horreur, that would mean bringing them on our soil! Gasp! Everyone freak out! Never mind that since then they've tried several terrorism suspects in the normal justice system, with the world not coming to an end, and, funnily enough, no one even noticing. But since they wouldn't let him do that, if he wanted to close the place, that would mean simply turning all the prisoners loose. I don't imagine that's what you support either, is it?

Judge that car all you want

Awesome, thanks, I will. It's stupid-looking and an indication of someone who has more dollars than sense.

Did I do that right?

Don't forget Frank Welker. That guy's résumé goes on for miles. I mean, he was the original Fred from Scooby Doo, for pity's sake.

On par with Jurassic Bark and The Luck Of The Fryish, in my estimation.

And taking care of one's citizens is also an integral part of a country (or, in your curious turn of phrase, "nation state"). A country isn't just a sandbox with strong walls.

Yes, but Democrats (along with Republicans) were doing the blocking:

I know, getting Democrats to vote as a bloc is like herding cats. What else is new?

Sigh. I said support Guantanamo, not support Obama's deciding to keep the status quo, as opposed to just turning everyone loose because he was blocked from bringing the prisoners into the standard criminal justice system. That's the only choice he had after being blocked from all other paths. A far cry from "turned Guantanamo into a permanent fixture of indefinite detention". And a farther cry from "support of the prison camp".

Despite putting the closure of Guantanamo Bay in their party platform, Democrats overwhelmingly opposed the closure of Guantanamo after the election. Obama, too, turned Guantanamo into a permanent fixture of indefinite detention. Democratic support of the prison camp (even among self-identified liberals) skyrocketed.

This is utter bullshit. All of it. Obama ordered Guantanamo closed within the first few days in office, then Congress blocked him. And if you can find a single reputable poll saying self-identified liberals support Guantanamo, I'll be a monkey's uncle.
