Dharun Ravi sentenced to 30 days in jail for intimidation and invasion of privacy leading to his Rutgers roommate Tyler Clementi's suicide. Not enough? Too much? by Epistaxisin ainbow

[–]BrainsAreCool -1 points0 points ago

I think this is a satisfactory sentence.

He invaded an individuals privacy and tried to humiliate that person publicly. Then, he panicked after the suicide and tampered with evidence. The kid is a homophobic douchebag, that's for sure.

In a perfect world Tyler, or someone else, would have contacted the right people to get Tyler's roommate expelled or moved to a different room. Unfortunately, what happened instead was Tyler killed himself.

I've faced bullies in the past and, for a collection of reasons, even considered suicide. But I couldn't imagine sentencing my worst enemies to 10 years in prison for my suicide, not ever. I would have tried other things first, like killing my roommate.

I think the public humiliation this kid has experienced in the media + 30 days is more than enough punishment for one young man. I still feel like many of us in the LGBT community want this persons life ruined as some kind of sick revenge on their own childhood bullies, but I digress- it's just a feeling.

Anyway, I think this is adequate.

I have never used marijuana. As a result, all I know is based on the seemingly constant praise and justification it receives on the internet. Reddit, what are your worst experiences with the drug and why is it illegal? by MagikalGiantin AskReddit

[–]BrainsAreCool 0 points1 point ago

I have a life changing, permanent, visual distortion as a result.

I'm sure I'll get down voted since:

1: This post is 4 hours old and my comment will get zero attention.

2: Because the reddit marijuana defense squad will likely rush in to tell you that even, though from my perspective, event A clearly resulted in condition B there's still no reason to believe marijuana was the cause of the condition.

... Here goes.

In 2010 I smoked a good amount of marijuana and for a while it was great. I didn't smoke every day, but rather I gave my brain a month or so reprieve so I wouldn't build tolerance to the drug. My first high was awesome, my second high was a little different and slightly less awesome due to a weird tactile sensation I was experiencing- it felt like my body was "on pegboard" in that I could only sense every other tactile feeling.

I got high a few more times after that, each time I got the "pegboard" feeling. One time though the tactile sensation didn't go away for about a day and a half. I remember going to a scheduled meeting to register for classes, during which I could not stop playing with my hands trying to get them back to "normal". Believe it or not, I got high again and this time as I was stareing off into the tree tops, as the drug was hitting me, I watched as the "snow" began to fade in.

I remember asking my friend if it was raining outside.

Anyway. I went inside and the snow was on the walls, on the carpet, on the table, and in the air. I thought it was just a part of the high dose I had taken, but it didn't go away. It never went away. It's been almost three years now and it's still here. I can still see things "breathe" if I look long enough.

The condition, which I once described as "television static", I now know as Visual Snow. There is no cure or treatment for the condition and little is known about it.

Here is an interesting article on the condition:

Yes, I was apart of the study mentioned.

Yes, I was one of the three people who took drugs.

TL:DR: I smoked marijuana and subsequently developed Visual Snow, a permanent visual distortion that looks like television static.

How about Shift + Right Click on a rune removes all runes of the same rune type?

That way you can right click on your MR glyphs or Shift + Right Click to remove all of them.

Same functionality, simpler approach, fewer buttons.

Oh, not to mention!

You could do the same thing for putting runes into you rune page. Instead of clicking 9 times you just shift click once. :)

These are just the kind of trio queue clowns that I don't want to have in my game.

"Hey, let's forsake the two other people in the team and attempt to do Baron, just the three of us." - What the hell are you thinking?

Also, what good is warding the inside of the Baron pit?

You ward somewhere in the river so you can see the enemy team coming and contest it in time.

So you're making an argument now?

I guess we're officially moving past the "If you do not value anything over anything, why do you engage in any action?" question and moving into new territory then? Ok.

Earlier I addressed how value, or the lack thereof, effects our actions. My response was, more or less, that I can't help it- I'm only ever doing what's easiest.

I don't think I ever intended to make claims about the legitimacy of your argument, my intent was to say that you'd be fooling yourself if you thought humans deserved credit for their actions. Just because someone sees one view as more accurate than another doesn't mean that there is meaning or purpose.

[–]BrainsAreCool 0 points1 point ago

wow, I did not expect such a childish response.

Why don't you actually state where or why you disagree with my reply rather than belittling its parts with contemptuous comments?

So far, all of the questions you asked can be answered by reading either of my two previous comments, so I don't see how you're advancing the conversation here. You asked me; "If you do not value anything over anything, why do you engage in any action?" and I answered, based on your comment, I can't tell if you're satisfied or unsatisfied with my reply.

"Value" is not needed for action.

"We" don't deserve credit for our actions anymore than a rocket deserves credit for flying to the moon. You'd be mistaken to give credit to the forefront layer of whatever it is that seems to be acting because underneath the surface of the rocket there are human pilots, underneath the surface of the human pilots is a community of cells, underneath the community of cells is complex chemistry, etc. When it comes right down to it "I" am not the actor here. I'm guessing that you, like most people, have developed a human-centric view of reality rather than a universal view of reality. Well, basically, the Big Bang isn't over- it's still going on, and you're part of it.

Anything that's done is done because it's the easiest thing to do at the time. You can try to fight the current of the universe all you want but you'd still be doing what comes easiest to you/ the universe.

As a Nihilist, I don't understand why "going to sleep" is the course of action you'd prescribe to someone who holds the idea that there's no meaning or purpose at all. It's my understanding that there is no meaning or purpose, the universe is a lazy thing that does what it does out of convenience, that's all. How can there be a meaning or purpose when there's not even a user? Just the chemically induced, posthypnotic suggestion of a user, an illusion. Just because I'm aware of these things doesn't mean I spend my day sleeping. Why? Because going to college, paying my bills, obeying the law, and having fun are all easier to me than "going to sleep".

Your comment reminds me of the many times I've seen Christians ask what's stopping Atheists from running around killing people if they don't believe in God.

Just like you don't need God to act good you similarly don't need meaning to act.

It's ok. I thought of something better now that rewards/ MF are shared...

Say you have 4 accounts. On 3 of the 4 accounts you load up all ur toons with MF gear, on other account you load up your toon with carry baller damage gear. You send captain kick ass to kill the bosses and you get four accounts worth of rare loot instead of one. Yay?

Now there's something I haven't read or thought of before.

The lack of chat rooms probably do hurt the community aspect of the game. :(

You can't say: "Looking for some people to do X with me." Then start chatting with them to see if you like their manners and proceed to clear content with them. Just like LoL you sort of just get people thrown at you...

Conservative Think-tanks Launch Campaign to Turn Americans Against Wind Energy: Documents show for the first time that local anti-wind groups are co-ordinating and working with national fossil-fuel funded advocacy groups to wreck the wind industry. by davidreiss666in politics

[–]BrainsAreCool 1 point2 points ago*

Sure thing. I alone will get right on that, I totally forgot that just because I was born here 22 years ago it's incumbent upon me to keep my government in line. First thing tomorrow, I'll go out and buy a fuck ton of guns and ammunition so I can mow down the people responsible for making the government I created, the government I'm responsible for, a shitty fucking government. I should probably just go out, grab my government by the reigns, and conquer all 2.3 billion acres of United States territory and all 50 states so I can put things straight.

. . .

Dude, what planet are you from? The United States is far too big, powerful, and spread out for any individuals actions to make a fucking difference. When the American revolution happened we had a population of 2.5 million people, now we have a population of 313 million people. Many of the countries that are outshining the United States right now are the size of one or two of our states. People today don't even have enough control over what happens in their own states, much less the whole country.

You live in Cannada?! The population of Canada is a mere 44 million people .

You live in Germany?! The population of Germany is 81 million people.

You live in Sweden?! The population of Sweden is a laughable 9 million people.

The state of Missouri has a population of 6 million people.

Just to conquer a state like Missouri and have it break off and gain autonomy as a nation would be a feat in itself. The problem with the United States government right now is that the amount of political influence per capita is very, very small and the government isn't evolving (in a positive way) to cater to the ever increasing populous. Therefore, nagging at us how we need to take control of our government is complete drivel. As of yet, not enough Americans believe the situation is dire enough to warrant revolution.

TL:DR: Out government is too big and clunky. We have little to no influence on what happens in it.
