And you seem to think New York doesn't control the rest of them.

So I'll use something NY doesn't control. That's entirely my point.

So let's see some proof of this company you claim to have.

I care more about its' success than impressing you so thanks, but no.

It's when a company first offers its stock for sale on the public markets, which (in this country) are managed entirely by Wall Street

Oh, you seem to think that New York has the only financial markets in the country - and you accuse me of not having a HS diploma.

That's why it's nonsensical to say that when "your company" goes for IPO, Wall Street won't be involved.

OR, I recognize the ability of other markets to handle the IPO and the non-utility of a "traditional" Goldman Sachs / Merril Lynch / Fuck All Y'all IPO.

Not that I believe you have a company, let alone a high school diploma.

Maybe if you bothered to do something useful with your life, you'd have something worth showing for it, instead of just getting jealous of people who have applied themselves.

What exactly do you think an IPO is?

BOMBSHELL: Facebook Bankers Secretly Cut Forecasts For Company In Middle Of IPO Roadshow by AllBurledOutin investing

[–]ChaosMotor 0 points1 point ago

Sorry, but in order to gain an edge, I typically do look at things that other's might consider frivolous.

Fair enough, it came off to me as if you were fishing, but I get what you're doing now.

Then don't bother explaining them.

I have a personality defect where I feel an intense compulsion to correct bad information. Sometimes this misfires. ;)

Care to share which start-up you own?

This account is basically pure id, a consequences-free realm to express my base impulses without worrying about what people will think - especially investors & business partners. That in mind, I try to keep a Chinese wall between my "self" and my comments on this account. While I may enjoy the ego gratification of sharing on some level, it would also damage my ability to speak freely, and in such a tightly constrained environment like a startup in the industry I'm in, I really need an outlet. Which also explains why I vent frustration and annoyance in inappropriate ways on this account sometimes, generally for other reasons than the actual issue being discussed. For example, my irritated comments to you earlier were more based on frustrations with potential investors I know in person than what you actually said.

Are you in need of investors?

We recently got notice that our hens are coming home to roost. After months of waiting we got a good word to go ahead from a very strategic partner / investor and are waiting for the paperwork. We're also right on track for the timeline of a larger position investor who wants us to have a "clear runway" as he puts it. But I do explore all opportunities. You can PM me if you want to meet & greet a little more and consider removing my paper mask.

(unless I searched for the wrong criteria).

I shouldn't be surprised when people poke around but it never stops me. Most people just don't care enough to look! You're nosing around the right area but a touch off on the industry. I'm notoriously tight lipped about saying more. (Maybe arcane is a better term, I give the information but so obliquely that most people won't see what I've given them.) Don't want to upset the wrong parties this early in the game.

Looks like you also have a healthy distrust of government and might lean towards the ancap/libertarian/anarchism side of the political spectrum, which is awesome.

I am an an-cap, but usually depict myself as libertarian in 'polite circles' because people just don't get the problems and it takes too long to really explain. They just make assumptions about what that means which, as you've seen, I can get frustrated in correcting (despite my compulsion to correct).

So if you need an investor, let me know!

I'd be happy to engage in some positive brinkmanship out of the public eye, where we can be a little freer with information.

i stated that PIK for a painting was bad and a waste of money

Did it materially affect FB's valuation or the success of their operations? Then who gives a flying shit? I'm sure it was good for morale, and for the employees to feel like they were working for a real, successful business. It was a decision Zuck made at the time and we're in no position to second guess it.

It was just thrown out there cause they wanted some art work, which is a sign (one of MANY) that they were careless when giving out stock options and diluting their share of the business for potentially frivolous things.

You can't show any true dilution to anyone except maybe Zuck, and quality of life perks are not a waste of money in any way unless you're some ascetic who thinks that a business should be run by robots out of a spotless glass cube.

Go buy some Facebook

I never said it was a good investment. I said that the PIK arrangement for the artwork was not in any way related to the quality of the offering. My reasons for not buying FB are structural, not based on tossoff nitpicks from someone who doesn't understand what's going on and why.

And for Fuck's Sake, what's with the attitude?

You got attitude because you were focusing on irrelevancies as a make-or-break, criticizing a vital tool for startups, and completely ignoring real problems. You were back-seat driving like crazy and as a startup owner I get super tired of explaining the basics to someone who's never been there but has more opinions than facts.

But under the current system you have some accountability and whistleblowing, albeit very little

I think you meant "none".

it scraps the current system and grows from the existing wealth/power/network of the former "democracy

No, it doesn't, it completely usurps the existing wealth/power network instead of perpetuating it like continuing society-as-usual.

a more blatantly unequal and corrosive society

Look outside. Read the newspaper. We have that now. NOW!

very little regard for basic rights of humans, essentially a corporatocracy

NOW! NOW! NOW!!!!!!!!!!

but why not expose the flaws and fight for justice in an effort to repair system we have

Hey man, just keep fixing that old broken horse and buggy, why bother upgrading to something more modern and useful? That old horse and buggy's worked juuuuust fine the last couple hundred years, no reason it won't work the next couple hundred.

democracy not the worst possible government except all the others?

Anarchy is true democracy.

Just because it's common, doesn't mean it's a good thing

You're not coaching from the sidelines or the stands, you're coaching from home, watching a game on TV that you've never played and don't know the rules to, but somehow think yourself able to criticize.

"Payment in kind", that is, shares for labor, is a necessity. What's not to understand about that? Most people who accept PIK will never, ever, ever see money from that. Once in a great while, they will. The only way for PIK to work is if sometimes, rarely, someone makes a shit load off of it. That's entirely the point!

Giving out stock options like it's candy is just a lazy thing to do, from my perspective.

Go run an underfunded business. Seriously. Start your own business with zero capital. Now tell me that PIK is lazy. Go on. Try it. Seriously. I bet you can outrun Usain Bolt if you just bothered to try, right? Not doing so is just lazy, nothing more.

it's something that I look for because I think it can tell me more things about a company's culture than a bunch of numbers ever could

You mean like, ensuring people who were instrumental or even participatory to helping your company get to profitability see some kind of return for that? Would you rather invest in a company that just fucks everyone? Go buy Zynga then.

but I will not be investing in Facebook for this reason

If this is your reason, you're grasping at straws while obvious fatal wounds surround you. The last portion of your name is well-considered.
