Even if I wasn't in the military, I still wouldn't. It's a good excuse not to smoke though when people ask if you want to, they almost never question it.

For modern warfare, I would recommend Lt. Col. [Ret.] Nathan Sassaman's "Warrior King." It is a great look into what it is really like in the upper echelon of the military command and a very interesting story to boot. I just commissioned as an officer and found this book very enlightening with respect to my future career.

Ya, I don't care about the money so much, it's more about the experience. Any estimate on what it would cost? I may look into just starting with a different steel frame and selling the one I have to my brother. In that case, any recommendations on a nice, older steel frame?
