In power point the best way to convey this is to maybe make each part of the picture an individual slide so that when you click it'll go to show what it takes to get the "fun" out of dwarf fortress. Show casual and hardcore in one slide, then take each part of the dwarf fortress picture to convey the message.

The first thing to learn are the rules. Blinds, hand rankings (highcard, pair, two pair, and so forth), betting stages, terminology.

The second thing to learn would be basic strategy. How strong your hands are pre-flop, bet sizing, position, slow playing.

Beyond that you get into crazy math like pot odds, equity, and a bunch of other things I probably can't touch on because I can't prove I'm good right now.

The most important thing is to practice in any way that you can. You get more solid every time you play a hand. This doesn't mean to wager money on it immediately (I did, I played with friends who also had no idea what they were doing but at a casino you'll be devoured), but do what you can.

I went there after reading this and smoking a bowl, these hoagies are flipping awesome. I just got your basic Italian hoagie, it is hands down the best I've had in my life so far. I should've gotten the old fashioned style Italian, I ordered too hastily and I'll have to go back again.
