I know this is a month old, but screaming is NOT atonal! Many metal screamers can carry a melody with their screaming. There are definitely many metal screamers out there the way you described, but don't write off all screaming-vocals as "atonal"!

I am not a clever man. I literally got my forklift (and various other heavy machinery licenses) and got a job offloading trucks. Better pay (marginally), less stress, and physically less demanding.

So why not go to a concert sometime? I hate crowds too, but the live music is usually awesome enough to trump any social comfortableness. You don't even necessarily have to go with people! I have been to a quite a few shows by myself, I regret nothing.

Definitely couldn't say this about myself. I don't even understand why my friends seem to like my company, let alone strangers. So it probably is just a personal barrier, not an actual social construct. This is my same reasoning for why help from a therapist seems disingenuous to me as well. (Paid to care /= caring) Of course they would disagree, haha.

That's great and all, but what you mentioned is the whole reason why even after I have a seemingly pleasant conversation with a random, the fact that they are getting paid/have an obligation to humour me just ruins the whole thing. I don't feel good or special afterwards, I just feel like I wasted their time.

Woah, thanks for actually responding. I hope all goes well for you. Some of the best relationships I've ever had began with a rough start, so as you said just be patient, and keep your head up! It's hard to find a good line between seeming clingy or being distant. Just do what feels right!
