I spend time with my mother constantly. We have a wonderful relationship and I go out with her for meals or shopping several times a week and talk about everything. I don't go out much and so I spend a lot of time with her at home too. So at times that I do go in my room and shut the door I really expect to be able to have a small amount of time to myself.
