I would say the T2i has a better image than the hv20...

But I'm not sure what kind of glass you would be using with t2i...if you don't have a variety of focal lengths or fast enough glass to shoot in low light, the camcorder might be more versatile....

Things to consider: DSLRs have mediocre sound recording capabilities, so you might have to record externally...

DSLRs also have issues with rolling shudder which can create a "jello" effect on handheld/moving shots....
