Game design and programming is a tough field to crack. Game developers and coders are often treated like slaves (I exaggerate, but this is how many of my instructors have phrased it,) and there's a lot of intense math involved. Psychology would definitely help when it comes to game design in particular. Focusing on writing skills would also be a considerable boon and there are quite a few writing intensive courses available when pursuing psychology credits.

While I'm particularly interested in utility and application software development, which, supposedly, will tend to land most programmers higher pay and better treatment than the game development industry (this isn't the reason. I just really enjoy writing utility and application software,) I have the skills to work on games in my spare time.

So no matter what you end up doing for an actual living, if you study enough coding, and enjoy it enough, you will be able to design and develop games.

"My ten extraneous mouse buttons don't work. I'm going to write twenty paragraphs of whining on reddit and act as though it's the linux users' fault."

That's not what I consider giving anything a fair shot.

You are not entitled to shit. We don't care if you don't like Linux. We do. If something doesn't work for you it's your responsibility to fix it. If that's too much for you to handle, too bad.

Neither is anything, though.

You'd better just fix it. He's entitled to it and it's totally our responsibility to fix his hardware because he totally deserves it.

Really?

What field are you most interested in?

I used to think I wanted to be a sysadmin but there's far too much networking involved.

My knowledge comes from first hand cooking experience. I happen to know some chefs as well. You've made it clear that you're more interested in misrepresenting my claims than refuting them. I've made it clear that I don't give a shit about your incorrect opinion.

I do, however, enjoy calling you a faggot.

Faggot.

Enjoy being wrong about something trivial. I've got more onions to cook.

I've already explained the facts to you, time and time again. What else can I do?

I wouldn't know. I don't support Steam.

Actually I'm working on an economy simulator set in pre-colonial times on a non-Earth but Earth-like planet.

I still can't decide on whether I want magic to be in the game. I'm not sure how I'd implement it along side industry.

I plan for it to be free roaming. Like you could go off and adventure, explore, and do quests instead of managing businesses, or while managing them. There's going to be a storyline that involves the discovery of the new world.

As you can see, my grammar is also very poor on the internet.

It doesn't look like a 7 year old wrote it, though.

I think we're on two different pages here. I'm pretty gung ho about the idea of entirely new games using a Morrowind engine. You guys are all still talking about reimplementing Morrowind or otherwise trying to come close to the same kind of game experience.

I feel we can have entirely new game experiences, game worlds, genres, and playstyles using a Morrowind style game engine, OpenMW in particular.

Why not explore space? Vehicles can be added to the world, why not space ships? What about landing on planets, each with their own lore? What about an economy simulator? You could run your businesses the way a real person does, not with a top down view.

There are countless possibilities.

Every game world has to start somewhere, even the Elder Scrolls has built its lore from game to game. There's no logical reason to assume that a game that has Morrowind's basic engine mechanics but absolutely no relation to the Elder Scrolls universe or its lore can't also be a very good game.

I'm working on some non-elder scrolls projects. I really wouldn't want to intrude on the established lore with fan fiction when I can create something new.

I never said it shouldn't be remastered. I just don't think the method you espouse, fans crowd-funding and managing development, is the right way to go about it.

If it's going to be remade I'd only trust Bethesda to do it right which is just as well since they're the ones who control the property rights.

You're grammar is terrible, dude. I guess I can see why you want a professional author on the project.

And one of the things that happens to onions during the sauteing process is caramelization.

It's an unavoidable chemical reaction. You can't change that.
