South Korea to Chemically Castrate Repeat Child Rapist by PrinceDakkarin worldnews

[–]Neato 0 points1 point ago

Of course not. Do you really think that I, a sane and rational person by my numerous posts, would think this? Seriously? I anticipated this exact question hours ago. sigh

For a socio/psychopath you either classify them as dangerously insane and commit them, or you find a way to segregate them from society. They are an exception and cannot be classified the same as a "normal" human because they do not have the same thought patterns. I don't want to dehumanize them, but it's more applicable to think of them as "other" than evil.

So when you are falsely accused and convicted of raping a child, I wonder if you will feel the same way? Doesn't apply as much to this case, but the death penalty is a bad choice in every circumstance.

In addition pedophilia can be a life sentence of torment and cruelty to the victim as the younger brain tries to interpret the incident

You can say the same thing about adults. PTSD and combat stress and other things lead to many disorders. I think committing a crime against a child should weigh more against any deniability (self defense, consent, etc) but not to make it a more heinous crime. Raping or murdering an adult is just as bad as a child in my eyes. A person is a person. The only real difference is a child has less awareness and self defense. Does an adult serial killer get any more respect or sympathy than a child serial killer?

Heh, I don't have that kind of independent motor control, but I also can't bench 350. I've only ever seen buff guys do it, but it might just be that they are the only ones that look impressive when they do.

You can't just profile people as "murderer", that doesn't make sense. Why did he kill someone? Self defense, rage, planned vengeance, serial killer, etc. You could easily be a murder if pushed. Doesn't mean you are unrehabilitatable.

It's possible that it might become socially acceptable (it used to be in several cultures) but unlikely. I was more referring to it's existance not being condemned, but pitied. Pedophiles receiving help instead of threats, etc. It is getting better (for women especially) but it's still in a heightened state of panic.

Fuck. Not documenting code should be a fireable offense. Variables and methods should be clearly labeled so anybody what their purpose is. I've had to run through entire programs just to understand what a single part did before. That guy was lucky he no longer worked here.

Do you have a CS degree? I worry about applying for Software Dev positions because I do not have deep programming experience. No more than 2 classes in for any language but a broad understanding of the basic principals and logic.

Wasn't homosexuality not that long ago? It's a process of social education.

How much approx do you get paid and would they hire a EE with a couple of classes of programming experience? Or is it a hard CS job? (more looking for software dev understanding than your specific company). Also, what do you develop?

I don't have access to any paywall journals, so this was the best I could find at my location

Assuming that people are inherently egoistic, and thus criminally inclined, Travis Hirschi has offered a theory of internal social control to explain why everyone does not commit crimes. In its original formulation (considerably expanded in Gottfredson and Hirschi, pp. 85–120) his theory posited four social bonds that keep people from committing criminal acts: attachment, commitment, involvement, and belief.

...

More abstractly, conformity is also the product of belief in the values of society, which means respecting its institutions and laws. To the extent that people fail to establish such bonds early in life, there is nothing in them to inhibit criminal behavior

Castration in any form is reactionary and only works to deter crime from one source. It may work for some offendors but it doesn't prevent rape elsewhere. I think we need to do more as a society in understanding pedophilia at how to help these people and accept them into society before they become jaded and give up on trying to conform to society's laws.

Humanity isn't something to be taken away, it's the definition of a person. You can suspend a person's rights in order to protect them or society. I think every criminal needs to be rehabilitated but recognize that some might forever be unwilling or unable to be rehabilitated. What to do with those people (who I believe are a very small percentage of the criminal population) is up for debate.

[–]Neato 0 points1 point ago

Probably a good idea to stick to that since statutory rape laws can be pretty harsh in some places.

[–]Neato 1 point2 points ago

When did I saw it was too harsh?

Nothing is completely reversible, that violates entropy. If the drugs cause long-lasting harm then it might not be worth it.

I have yet to oppose this tactic. My original issue was with people disregarding the potential side effects. From some of the responses I've seen, that is happening on a wide front in this posting.

I for one don't really care about his health and well being.

That part. Inconsideration for a human you are in control of. Eunuchs have hormone problems that can lead to health problems. But castration is barbaric in the same way cutting off the hands of a repeat thief is barbaric.

Of course not. But punishment and rehabilitation are the lesser end of dealing with crime. If we don't work to prevent crime from happening, you get what the US has: a ridiculous prison population with massive repeat offenders.

Go tell someone you are a pedophile but can control yourself and watch for the look of disgust and hate. Homosexuals had and still have these issues with people hating them for their mere existance (people trying to argue it is a choice are trying to skirt the issue). Racism, misogyny and other bigotries share this as well.

Is using daytime energy to transport water into a resevoir feasible for energy storage on this scale? I assume you always have more power generation during the day time than you actually need for an entire day, you just need to reallocate some of it to non-daylight hours.

You see, you had a chance to be taken seriously until you decided to try to falsely color your opposition in a negative light. No one of merit takes sentences like that seriously and you've given up your right to have an intelligent discussion.

Because pedophilia is a horrible thing that should not be tolerated?

You have clarified exactly why pedophiles become dissatisfied with society. If society decided that the way you were born was intolerable and you had to hide your existance, you'd probably give up on pleasing those people sooner or later. We shouldn't comdemn people for things they did not choose.
