No they're not a "grey" area. They are either human beings, or they aren't human beings. You should treat them with the same amount of respect as you would any other human being, except even more because a) they're fucking children and don't possess the moral compass to understand many things, b) their relationship with you is completely involuntary. Why the fuck would you ever potentially harm the relationship between you and your child with abuse of any sort, including verbal abuse and physical abuse (as light as spanking).

Krugman: How can Mitt Romney be so clueless about the economy? by wang-bangerin politics

[–]NoCowLevel -2 points-1 points ago

If its the difference between the expected rate of return and the rate of inflation, then it's not tax that's the problem, it's inflation. Right?

Inflation is a 'hidden tax', so yes.

Also, thanks to Keynesian theory of economics (and by extension Krugman), you can thank all the Keynesians for causing inflation.

Krugman: How can Mitt Romney be so clueless about the economy? by wang-bangerin politics

[–]NoCowLevel -2 points-1 points ago

I am not saying it's a good thing, but the alternative, apparently, is to kick the can down the road and build up the damage. That's not a rational solution. A global depression is going to be coming if the problems aren't fixed, and since liberals are so knee-jerk about regulations, I don't see this happening, it's only going to get worse. When the baby boomers start getting on welfare, we're going to see more economic troubles if taxes aren't raised significantly.

I am fully aware Republicans are just as crazy in the sense they only want to remove some regulations and not all of them.

Krugman: How can Mitt Romney be so clueless about the economy? by wang-bangerin politics

[–]NoCowLevel -5 points-4 points ago

Okay. That's unfortunate and all, but keeping a system that is instrinsincally fucked is doing nobody a favor. Unless you want to continue to pay for the failures of private institutions, government needs to be gutted inside and out, including the regulations and incorporation that allows major banks to do this shit. The only thing kicking the can down the road is doing is building up the damage when it does finally collapses.

Those savings and retirements should be moved to a credit union. If you are unable or unwilling to do the research for your own safety, then you deserve anything that happens as a result of that laziness. And if they're in stocks, you can thank the government for taxing the fuck out of that money. There are a lot of people and money in the stock market that shouldn't be there, as a consequence of taxes.

Also, Krugman is an idiot.

What? Why is that bad? Let them fail. We need more capitalism and less state capitalism. Let them all fail and let new entrepreneurs raise from the ashes.

With news of SpaceX launching their first commercial rocket, is anybody else excited about the private sector reaching space? by joe39275in Libertarian

[–]NoCowLevel 5 points6 points ago

Maybe I am naive here, but why exactly he is false? If left to the free market, would the space program been delayed because of its price, risk, and danger? It's said that things that should exist should only exist if the free market would have created it, which brings up this issue. I think nuclear energy is a pretty good example of this (maybe?). The potential damage of nuclear energy is incredibly dangerous if something went wrong, so why would the free market favor this? Isn't this the same situation with space travel, that it is simply too dangerous, risky, and expensive to do without any previous examples or work?

Furthermore, is SpaceX even a free market idea anyway? Isn't SpaceX contracted by NASA?

I'm not saying government funded programs is morally right and I am opposed to it as an anarcho capitalist, but I can't help but think government jump started these programs or made them more familiar.

Why the Libertarians are not that greatly influential (in my opinion) by civ216in Libertarian

[–]NoCowLevel 0 points1 point ago

Libertarians have difficulty being taken seriously because our entire position seems counter productive. An easy example is the drug war; it seems counter productive to legalize drugs to fix the problems of drug use, but that's what needs to be done. Libertarianism also runs into the risk of sounding like an "anti-government" phase that an angsty teenager or hippie would adapt.

Jury nullification is the strongest tool against unjust laws and creeping authoritarian governments. More people should understand these things, they're important.
