First off, you are right, being OPENLY atheist makes you unelectable. Most dems vote for more rights and . News flash, Dems control Congress...and we have a democratic president...and they are passing way more laws that would be considered against christian beliefs (i.e. most christians are conservatives, and are against obamacare)

Furthermore, it was just an example. I could find plenty other examples. My main point was that it all depends on WHAT people view as their basic rights and laws. A christian's idea of their basic rights and laws would be different from an atheists (or yours, but I'm assuming you're an atheist)

There is a middleground. Christian's CERTAINLY do not control the government.

While you will argue this point, just the same amount of Atheists influence laws and rights. Abortion for example. It's not that christians see abortion as a right, and want to deny you that right. They see abortion as a violation of rights against, what they view as, a human. Where you feel that them limiting that right is a violation of rights. I know that was confusing, but basically it's all about values.
