Ah, right. I guess they've shifted up a bit. I'll look into it tomorrow before I start my commute. When I'm in the drops I usually have my hands on the bend and less on the lowest portion, so I guess that's why it's never bothered me before. Thanks for the input!

Can you elaborate on what you mean by 'upward facing'? I was always told to keep the bottom of the bars parallel to the ground...

Ha! I found the bars at my a LBS around where my parents live. It's in an area that has a prevalent population of fairly wealthy young professionals so there's a sizable cyclist population. Apparently someone had come in with a Bianchi ss and wanted different bars than the stock Nitto bars and wanted nothing to do with the old bars so they left them at the shop. I ended up snagging them for $10 (normally $100 bars).

I've heard good things about the Feather. Maybe someday when money isn't tight...

There was a 56cm Plug Prestige at the Uni that I was studying at in England (American exchange student) that I would have killed for. I prefer drop bars and the Prestige comes with a nice looking set that makes for an amazing aesthetic.

I've been on 40+ mile rides in this configuration with little stress on my hands. I can definitely feel it if I ride in certain positions, though (especially when I was riding it with the original set of bullhorns).

Interestingly, no. It's a 54cm frame and I'm a pretty tall guy (188cm/6'2") so the pedals and my butt take most of the weight. I also enjoy the aggressive position it gives.

How is your commute? I'm about to graduate from Texas Tech soon and it's looking more and more like I'll probably be coming back to Houston (my hometown) for work but I don't want to give up my dearest hobby in the face of a city that seemingly lacks any kind of infrastructure conducive to commuting by bicycle.

Agreed. About the only good thing I can say about this city is the flatness makes cycling truly wonderful (sometimes).

I think that's less racism and more...simply bad basic English skills.

I'm in the Liberal minority here and I will freely admit that I've almost failed quite a few math classes because I simply couldn't understand the horribly butchered English coming from some of these professors.
