Irredeemable #37 came out and.... (Spoilers) by zynthesisin comicbooks

I thought it was fantastic. Especially because Superman was the inspiration for Plutonian. It's a never ending cycle, and it says a whole hell of a lot about creativity and inspiration. You never know where that idea comes from...

This week's Review Group Pick is Batman Incorporated! by hoffer175in comicbooks

[–]ShawnDaley 0 points1 point ago

I know that this is the 2nd wave of the N52 but do we need to know anything from the previous run on Batman Incorporated? Some books like Green Lantern carried over continuity from the DCU - just wondering if this is the same.

Hickmans run on Fantastic Four.

As long as he also continues his creator owned material like Severed, this is probably the best news I've heard today.

Kick-Ass Will Be A Trilogy by sajanthanin comicbooks

I enjoyed it until the ending, when it became evident that Kick-Ass 2 was just a setup for the Kick-Ass spinoff, Hit-Girl.

KA2 essentially had no ending.

Worse thing I saw in my comicbooks this week... by Hoffspeaksin comicbooks

I'm not a fan (though I did like Infinite) but there are a surprising number of readers who really like his stuff. Based on the cons and events I've been to around the work, and the people I've chatted with, it seems his fans are mostly those who grew up with his 90's stuff. I guess the power of nostalgia is strong with this one.

Right on. Well if you ever end up actively pursuing something like that, I'd be more than interested to see what you come up with. Especially with an indie creator owned publisher like Image Comics, BOOM Studios or Dynamite Entertainment.

What are some of the better lesser known titles that you are currently reading? I'll start... by Delta_Bluesin comicbooks

Near Death is pretty cool. Even if you don't love crime / hit man stories, it's still a well written book.

Ferals - Werewolves done right. Not for the weak of stomach.

How do you keep your pull list sane? by badalchemistin comicbooks

[–]ShawnDaley 2 points3 points ago

I'm going to be the black sheep here and just say "why drop any?" if you can afford them and you're interested in the stories. Sitting in my 'to read' pile, I have about 20 - 30 single issues of books that came out weeks ago. Some people would rather just wait for the tpb, and that's totally fine. I don't mind having an excess of reading material, because you never know when it'll come in handy.

And if the story and art are enjoyable, why not? As an illustrator, it's also good to have references for characters, positions, colors... and well, inspiration.

I review comics too so I kind of have to keep up to date, so it's a little different for me.

Comic Book Men renewed...16 episodes ordered. Haters gonna Hate. by RexQVelvetin comicbooks

[–]ShawnDaley 0 points1 point ago

It's reality TV, which means that everything is as staged as any other show on TV. If you can get over the fact that it's practically scripted, it's not bad for some background noise while you're sorting through comics or bag n boarding a pile of loosies.

Marvel will never use 'fear' for a central theme better than DC did with Sinestro Corp War.

This isn't a question, more of a statement. Good call on Hoax Hunters being picked of for an ongoing series - lots of potential.

That's all.

What is your favorite plot/storyline of all time? by end_of_discussionin comicbooks

[–]ShawnDaley 2 points3 points ago

I think it's the other Lanterns that seal the story for me. And the fact that there are now other colored rings, which bring forth a plethora of new characters to love and hate.

Yeah really, it was awesome. I'm pretty sure Sinsetro Corp War was the reason I couldn't enjoy Fear Itself - Marvel just couldn't 'do' fear as well as SCW did.
