Overloading before a PR attempt? Back squat.

I did a couple lockouts (2 sets, 3-5 reps) of 455 and 495 from 1/4 height off the pins before my attempt at 405. Nailed it. Previous PR was 365x2. After lockouts I put 455 on the hooks, and un racked it but didn't walk out. Immediately stripped the 25s off and squatted it. So yeah I'd say it works. Do a bunch of low rep warm up sets with only 20-40lb additions each time.

How does this compare to the electric grinders in that price range? As in the virtuoso or the preciso?

Good start. I finished high school almost 3 years ago and was 140lb at 6'1". Same situation as you. Fast metabolism. I'm 205lb today at 6'2" and lean. I'm still looking to get heavier but it's getting hard. Keep eating and lift heavy stuff.

There's also hooks. They function like straps but completely eliminate grip strength as a factor. You could even pull open palmed if needed.

Levi makes the 501STF in tan/camel. Easily <$50 so you don't feel bad working in them. I have a pair and everybody loves them. But if you have thinner legs they may not be the fit you're looking for.

Don't let it roll down your spine! Ditch that thing! In one quick motion let go and pull your arms in close to your chest and jump forward out of the way. Safety is more important than being quiet and elegant about it.
