Trayvon Martin shooting: Witnesses change stories ahead of Zimmerman trial -- Four witnesses in the Trayvon Martin case have changed their stories, some "in ways that may damage" George Zimmerman by BlankVersein news

Kid? Having nearly reached the half-century mark, I find that kind of insulting.

Unlike the rest of this country, which has no problem trying people in the media, I tend to wait for people to have their day in court just as I would expect if I was accused of a crime.

I am in no way defending either person here, but with one of them dead, it's going to be very hard to get the real story. I will wait until evidence is presented and vetted by the court system regardless of what Snopes says.

You've seen the forensic evidence indicating this?

I'm with the OP, I am waiting for the evidence presented in court, not the hearsay of the media and busybodies.

It only needed to work once for those that had the inside track. These people don't give two-shits about Facebook or it's long term viability. The smart ones knew there was one shot to get in and get out with bags full of cash.

They are the ones now sitting back on some Caribbean island sipping a rum punch laughing at all the suckers holding the stock.

So transfers are slated for 1.3. Great. Now when are they putting 1.3 out? by Legerdemain0in swtor

[–]SkunkMonkey -1 points0 points ago

What I am shocked by is the number of dead servers. They obviously over estimated need by a large margin. Then not having a system in place to shrink the footprint is stupid.

If they were really smart, they wouldn't have opened so many damned servers in the first place and kept a rack or two in standby in case they needed more capacity.

You can't treat a health problem (addiction) with criminal penalties. That's not how mental health is treated.

If we are going to keep criminalizing health issues, I say we start by making stupidity illegal.

When I lived in the US Virgin Islands, all the boat captains spoke of the Great White Lobster. If we was to ever catch one, we would immediately return to shore.

Yeah, a lot of cocaine smugglers flew over the area.

I still LMAO over that domain. You almost have to think they picked it on purpose because of the buzz it would generate.

Kirk never told Scotty how long to take, only that it needed to be done in less time than Scotty estimated. Of course, Scotty was smart and always told Kirk it would take longer than he knew it would so when he would finish ahead of schedule, he'd look like the hero.

This bundle of wings is stuck in perpetual flight. by MartiPandain KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]SkunkMonkey 4 points5 points ago

This is the infinity glide bug. Since the game is about rocket flight, not so much was put into developing proper atmospheric lift/drag models. For the time being, wings can potentially fly away all on their own.

If you want to remove these you can edit your persistance files to get rid of the vessels with "debris" in their name.

The ashes of actor James Doohan, who played engineer "Scotty" in Star Trek, are due to be blasted into orbit on Tuesday. by DrJulianBashirin scifi

[–]SkunkMonkey 22 points23 points ago

Because it still puts him in space. The idea is not to permanently put his ashes into space, but to just get them there. I would imagine Mr. Doohan would be a right bit proud to have been able to say he'd been to space.

US “Six Strikes” Anti-Piracy Scheme Delayed: "After 6 warnings ISPs may take some repressive measures, including slowing down offenders’ connections and temporary disconnections." by maxwellhillin technology

[–]SkunkMonkey 0 points1 point ago

Attacking piracy this way won't help the same way that putting drug users in jail won't stop drug abuse. These are band-aid solutions that don't address the root cause of the problem. Until such solutions are put forth, I will continue to ignore the threats from a dying business model.

Advertising dude, it's all about selling ads on their website. By forcing people to continuously visit their website, they can reap revenue even on old issues. They are doing it to help make more money, not make it convenient for the consumer though that's what they want you to believe.

[–]SkunkMonkey 8 points9 points ago

It's not a PDF because you can't sell as much repeat advertising as you can with website ads. The amount of profit from a digital format combined with the added revenue of website ads makes this look very good to them. Even back issues will generate continued revenue this way.

[–]SkunkMonkey 45 points46 points ago

SHHH! Don't give them any ideas. It's probably too late as this will be the next step into forcing people from the lower profit of print mags to the high profit of digital distribution and ad revenue from the website.

It's a little harder for them because they are usually run from blocks of static IPs purchased by corporate. The average individual can get a new IP because they aren't on static IPs to begin with.

Even better, the program can detect traffic from these bogus clients and blacklist them.

Of course it's not 100% perfect, but it sure as hell beats not using it. I don't expect to get robbed, but I still lock my doors.
