As Mark Twain said, “The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them.”

I would rather someone read the most vapid, generic, "fad" book than not read at all because its not what they read that is important, but how much they love reading it.

I was a tennis ball boy in the Royal Tenenbaums. My cousin played Uzi in the movie so I got to be an extra. I'm the one farthest to the left. What a stud.

I live in the town that Paul Newman lived in for a good while until his death. My friend's brother, when he was in high school, got paid to occasionally mow Paul's lawn. One day he gets finished in the front and when he walks to the backyard sees Paul, Tom Cruise and Robert Redford sitting by the pool sippin' on some beers.

And that's my story.

Same thing happened to me except the tech was an old lady. I kept closing my eyes to avert them from the horrors of what was unfolding in front of me, however just the sensation of getting ma' boys rubbed down without any corresponding visual was too much not to get a hard on. I had to tip toe a very thin line between the two.

tl;dr stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I would say work yourself up to Infinite Jest. You certainly can dive straight into it if you want (and I know many who have and enjoyed it), but I would recommend starting out with some of his incredibly awesome articles: Consider the Lobster, his commencement speech at Kenyon College, and Federer as a Religious Experience.

Just started reading The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are. Based on it I'm probably going to have to start delving into some Watts.

I have to disagree. I saw them Last year at Voodoo Fest (where they dressed up as The Mystery Gang from Scooby Doo) and while they weren't the best show I've ever seen they were still pretty awesome. It may have been the three blunts I smoked, but MGMT not only seemed to be really enjoying themselves but the entire crowd was definitely into it.

I feel like most people who dislike their show are the same who hated Congratulations because it didn't have sugary as fuck singles like: Kids, Time to Pretend, etc.

During the show MGMT waited a while to play Kids because they knew that a lot of the audience only wanted to hear it and would leave immediately after. Near the end they said they would play Kids after the next song and dedicated the next song to "the stoners in the crowd" and proceeded to play Siberian Breaks (for those who don't know the song is around 12 min long and is made up of 8 mini songs). Every time a mini song would end a bulk of the audience would cheer and clap because they thought Kids was coming on. This happened again and again and again and it was the best troll to all the Congratulations-haters because they became more and more indignant as the song went on until the began acting like spoiled 6 year olds.
