These games allowed them to measure positive social behavior – for example, trust or sharing – and negative social behavior – for example, punishment.

Researchers recreate bee collapse with pesticide-laced corn syrup by BrainInAJarin science

I think you're mincing words. jamaph in his original post meant that you have to test things and provide evidence instead of just speculating. He wasn't implying you can prove things with science.

The real reason we need this study is that pesticides don't target all insects. It would be a waste of time to do this study if pesticides were known to kill all insects. Science is a tool to support or refute hypotheses, not a replacement for common sense.

On the Zeus question I bet his answer will be circular bible logic ("Jesus is the true lord because the bible says so, and the bible is true because Jesus said it in the bible") which Christians continue to fail to explain to normal people.

Chording keyboards just mean they use combinations of keypresses to form a symbol, they've got nothing to do with attachment to the hand. Good link anyhow.

Are there keyboards like this that can attach to my hand?

EDIT: Here's one I forgot about. $200 is too much money for a keyboard. http://www.tekgear.ca/index.cfm?pageID=90&prodid=22&section=99&nodelist=1,99

Is it true that Americans get a measly 2 weeks annual leave? If true, how does this affect the nation? by AnInchOfCredibilityin AskReddit

[–]akabaka 0 points1 point ago

We don't have a good word for "someone from the United States." United Statesian? U.S.er? U.S. American? They don't work, so they fall back to American and it causes people to think the U.S. is America. It's an unfortunate situation.

[–]akabaka 0 points1 point ago

I think the question even better than "why not?" is "why?". All we without smartphones had to do was nothing. Why do you have to have an internet browser everywhere you go? Maybe I'm missing the point entirely?

EDIT: I am sincerely asking this question. Reddit, please don't be an idiot and reply with jokes!

Japan to Build Elevator to Outer Space by x0mbigrlin science

[–]akabaka 0 points1 point ago

Maybe it would have to be at the lagrange point between the Earth and moon. Or rather, a little closer to the moon than the lagrange point, that way the moon pulls on the cable a little bit. That would have to be a really long cable!

My best guess is that it would be in orbit, exactly like a geosynchronous satellite.

we might as well start as far away from home as possible

Then we should be cutting foreign aid, not science.

They're paying for their empire and hundreds of foreign embassies across the world, not actual defense. Making enemies is the opposite of defense.

Which content in r/trees is illegal? It's not illegal to talk about something illegal.

A necessary change in policy by redditin blog

[–]akabaka 0 points1 point ago

You could bring up conspiracy. This crime involves two or more persons agreeing to commit a crime. So if someone on r/trees says let's possess an illegal substance on April 20th and 200 other people say okay, those 201 people which also live in the United States or countries which have similar laws in cooperation with the United States have committed a crime.

So I guess you could justify removal of specific posts in r/trees, but not the entire subreddit, based on reddit's extremely vague "nothing illegal" rule, but there is no reason for them to remove it as they are not in any sort of liability situation as they are in today's issue, and marijuana does not widely offend the community.

The discussion of breaking of laws is not necessarily illegal (I would go so far as to say it is legal), for obvious reasons.

I don't think so, but since neither of us can come up with evidence it appears we are at a stalemate.
