Being Aussies you would do well to move to Shepherds Bush. Nice area, huge Ozzie/Kiwi/Safa population with all the requsite bars and clubs.

You would probably have to share though (as it looks like you want a studio) so it may not be the best idea.

SE1 is really nice and has lots of shit to do and see and the centre of london is walkable, but the transport links are a bit shit - only district (you want to be next to central line ideally).

Oh my god. Do you come from a moneyed background or something? You have comments all the way through this thread telling people to not be rude and not to ask questions about money, and the only people with such a fucking stick up their arse about money matters are people 'of means'.

If she got shoes because she is spoilt then she needs to come to terms with that, avoiding the situation is not good for anyone. If she got them because it was a huge present at the time then fine, she can tell us.

I have a Rc-20xl and it is not nearly as adaptive as people think. Unfortunately there is not way to bring in a loop and overdub it at the same time, which often leads to unneccessary waits while the thing plays out a loop so that you get good timing coming into it.

Basically a lot of songs performed with an RC20 have actually had to have their compositions played with in order to fit in with the technology. This is not what i am after (2 years after buying it i am only starting to put together live sets with it).

Basically, 1 pedal loop stations are useless unless you just want to practice soloing over a loop, 2 pedal loop stations are slightly better but what you actually want is the ability to track multiple loops and control how they interact/layer over them. I'm sure there might be some kind of laptop interface for this but if it's a live setting there is no compromise (cos if you fuck up a beat placing you pretty much have to abandon it and start again...)

Get an RC-300, this is the shit and has only just been released.

I'm not so hot on the 'constructive' component of critiquing, as I don't want to set you off on the wrong direction by not explaining it properly.

Youtube is a good resource but you will not regret getting a good singing lesson, even if it costs you. You'll learn the basics of breathing at least. I'm self taught for 6 years now but only recently really hacked into the whole diaphragm thing and I wish I had gotten it earlier...

If you cant play guitar just stick to one chord strums and let them ring out till the next change. It's obvious you are struggling to do both at the same time so prioritise your voice and learn the song backwards before you start singing it.

Go to open mics and perform. If you are that good (choir standard) you could do an acappella with some foot stomping/clapping (think Ella Fitzgerald or Nina Simone (see line woman). For some proper confidence try and dominate the audience like she does and get the audience to do the backup vocals.

Unfortunately there is no shortcut for stage confidence, just get more exposure!

For 18 you're allright! You have a nice tone, although parts of the track are pitchy. Make sure you are singing from your diaphragm, it sounds like your lacking power in some parts(esp at 2:38, just let go of your voice rather than letting it crack and trail off, an audience will value commitment to the tune rather than hearing you pussy out of the note) <-- not trying to be harsh, everyone does this at the start .

You need to make sure your not slurring/mumbling the lyrics. It sounds like you recorded this at an [8] at 4am.

You are too quiet in this recording, i can't hear you well enough to crit.

Your voice sounds allright but the track needs more energy, i can't tell if it's song choice or what, but it is listenable. I'd listen to you at an open mic.

Can't hear you. If you're going to take it seriously you need to upload a track with just you singing. Having Buble in the background disguises your voice and we can't tell which is which.

You could try getting some software which will allow you to take out the singing from the track (try http://www.labnol.org/software/tutorials/remove-vocals-song-mp3-music-instruments/1301/ or just google it yourself, its a fairly normal procedure and quite common to do).
