Lying to people as a means to an end is fundamentally wrong, and the thought of this practice being expressly legal (we all know it's already a very common occurance) scares me; the average person (thus the majority of people) believe what they hear without ever looking into it themselves... but this is the age of information, so any blatant lies can be debunked with an inquisitive mind and access to the World-Wide Web. In the end, it seems to me, the populous is more responsible for their misconceptions than those that would spew falsehoods.

You speak true, but IMO that's why it's a story worth telling, because it shows that some good can always be found amidst the bad. Sometimes it's hard to recognize but if you look for it it's there.

I'm not really in tune with the progressive movement, I subscribed to here so I could maybe pick up on what it's about and further my understanding of its social agenda, but I really don't know what meaning to derive from this. Is it affirming the success of laws and programs that promote the welfare of humanity?

EDIT Or is it contrasting the treatment of our enemies vs our failed or otherwise unfortunate compatriots? Maybe questioning why we fluff the pillows of our assailants and not of our homeless?
