This. It is not the saying that you don't read books that was the problem. It appears to me that saying you don't read books might have been interpreted as you taking pride in your state of willful ignorance. I don't pretend to know what your friend was thinking at the time he walked away. I might have interpreted this statement as anti-intellectualism and been turned off in the same way.

I'm sorry it went that way for you. Not reading books is definately not a measure of intelligence. Maybe all he does is read books and knew that he would have nothing to talk about if you didn't like to read books at all? Read a few books, maybe? That way you don't dismiss the topic completely if it comes up again. I'll bet that he took it as a personal insult (otherwise, why turn and walk?) and that you weren't interested.

It may sound shallow but when you are first getting to know someone it maybe necessary to exaggerate or maybe fabricate certain interests in this case. Just so that you seem interested in the other person. Drugs or alcohol can help to grease this interaction.

Plinkett reviews are the only movie reviews I enjoy. I hate the TNG movies and the star wars prequels so much that listening to Plinkett is therapeutic. While I walked away from some of these movies with very mixed feelings. I hated the star wars prequels but I couldn't verbalize much more than, "I don't like it." Plinkett has identified all the little reasons that I hate those movies. I love the jokes too: rape, kidnapping, muder, prostitution, drug use, alcoholism, and gambling. Hes pretty crude though and not for everyone.

The worst side effect for me of taking Depakote/Depakene was intense intestinal distress. For almost two years I had to make sure I always knew where a toilet was close by lest I shit myself.

Needless to say I'm much happier to be taking lithium and have no problem having my blood drawn every 6 months.
