I've lived in Berkley since 2006 – moved into my starter house with my then-girlfriend. Proximity to Royal Oak (where I grew up) and the major expressways make getting anywhere a breeze.

Now I'm a married father of two and my decision to move here is ever-more-validated. Great schools, lazy "downtown," good ice cream places, enough good places to eat to get by (Bagger Dave's, Amici's, O'Mara's come to mind). Couple of passable bars if you find the Royal Oak nightlife scene crowded and douchey.

Friendly people in general. What are you looking for in a town?

It's a cardigan.

Seems the easiest thing for me to do (for the rest of the day at least) is to button up the shirt a little more and tuck it in. Oh, and leaving the hat in the car.

My n00b sartorial status is showing; my self-assessment up till now has been that i used too few layers. I may have overdone it this particular day – it's one of those start-cold, end-warm days where I live. Gonna lose the jacket as soon as it's warm enough.

Funnily enough, this is the year i get new frames covered by my insurance, so it's a good excuse to get sharper eyewear.

I'll have to draw the line on the goatee though. The wife insists on facial hair, mostly due to the gumpy look my face presented bare. Might consider a slightly different trim.

Didn't take it as mean at all. Part of my "problem" is that I've lost a decent amount of weight in the last 6 months but haven't updated accordingly. Looking at the picture again it's not glaringly obvious that the jeans aren't the right size. Added to my near-term shopping list.

Point taken, though I have gotten a number of compliments on the hat since I picked it up a few weeks ago. Didn't set out to match it with the outfit. These are my old running shoes that I'm attempting to repurpose and avoid the need to pick up proper casual shoes; I concede that this is probably unwise.
