If you were put in charge of trimming Earth's human population down to 3 billion or so, what would your criteria be for who stays and who goes? by Clayburnin AskReddit

[–]chronohawk 0 points1 point ago

everyone is made sterile at birth.

Do you mean once they've had one child, or what? Clarification would be great.

Presumably you'd raise it to two children once the population goes just below 3 billion, right?

Well, I'd argue it's good now; it's now renewable and it has a better enchantability (12) then Diamond (10) and Iron (9).

Plus, it looks so awesome.

That's a great idea! I'm glad you enjoyed it, even if it didn't get much attention.

Please note that this all took place in the update just before the new Anvil format was introduced.

Also bear in mind that I am limited in terms of resources! I cannot brew potions as I have no glass, nor grow Sugarcane or most other plants! I also cannot make Pistons due to a lack of Redstone, and Iron is not renewable here.

Enjoy, and if you have any suggestions for when I pick this series back up, please, go ahead and suggest!

That's fair enough. The Quick-Fix isn't for anyone, after all!

As for the Beta stats, I think something might be going on there. After all, the Beta Quick-Fix is still in Beta with it's original stats...

All the Mediguns are situational. You wouldn't use the Kritzkrieg to take out a sentry nest, would you? It's exactly the same with the Quick-Fix. Learn where it's meant to be used and it can be devastating. However, most players don't take the time to learn the role of the Quick-Fix.

This is most likely because the Medigun and Kritzkrieg work in the same way fundamentally... but the Quick-Fix requires a different touch.

It's a shame. All the same, however, I'd prefer it's Beta stats to it's current ones, and, I'd like it if it overhealed during it's uber. It'd fit nicely into a lot more situations then.

I saw this before it was posted, and although I couldn't sign up myself, I felt like the tournament would remain too small as it was, despite the numerous promotions.

I'm happy it's been brought to the public eye by the blog. Here's hoping someone casts the matches, I'll certainly watch them!

[Q] is there any odd level vintage soldier weapons? by yokai916in tf2trade

[–]chronohawk 2 points3 points ago

Unfortunately, there are not. Here's why!

Odd levels were introduced along with the new drop system in order to see if levels could be used along with the random drop system. However, they were shortly after removed in the May 29th, 2009 Patch. It's worth noting that random levels were added back in later... but only for hats. So, any weapons obtained after that date have standardized levels.

The first Soldier unlocks were introduced in the WAR! Update; (in the December 17th, 2009 Patch). Therefore, they never had a chance to get random levels.

I hope this helps!

The Escargot's Explosive

  • + Knife explodes on backstab, wounding all enemies near your victim, and yourself.

  • - No guaranteed kill on backstab.

  • - User moves 50% slower.

  • - On miss, kill yourself. Idiot.

Copied straight from my other comment; still very applicable.

My experience with craft numbers is that the price is very subjective. Some people will pay only a little more than a usual one, but others will cash out to get their hands on one. The best thing you could do is find a collector of #50 items. Otherwise, I'd recommend keeping it. It's a nice thing to own.

The Best Steel Defense in the History of Forever by VierVonKreuzin tf2

[–]chronohawk 1 point2 points ago

I agree completely. I've previously argued about why the Quick-Fix is a good medigun and not as bad as it seems to be from the comments so often seen about it.

However, it's use is situational, in exactly the same way as the Kritzkrieg and regular Medigun. In this case, it was being used to bolster a final push on a heavily guarded point; that's not really what it is for. It's meant to maintain the team slightly behind the frontlines. If the point was lightly defended, or, you were in a position to backcap on a 5CP map, the Quick-Fix is perfect, however, as you can capture whilst ubered!

The Medic simply chose the wrong gun here, or didn't have time to switch.

My favorite thing to do is get the funeral march song and then use the yes command slightly after.

Make this a movie now. by fenneladsin tf2

[–]chronohawk 0 points1 point ago

I'm thinking that this could easily tie in with the canon if the third life-extender was give to some kind of evil genius who invented all these robots, and is now out to exact his/her revenge on both Blutarch and Redmond Mann for some kind of misdeed, which they clearly have done plenty of. Therefore, an alliance of convenience was quickly brokered to deal with the new threat.

In addition, a team 'preference' selection becomes available for all players. Selecting 'BLU' or 'RED' will make your character in MvM become of that team, and set all your loadout screens to that color of characters, in addition to perhaps changing some themed items on the menu.

Indeed. The Scout went through three phases; from the SMG to the Nailgun to the Scattergun. The weapon concepts were obviously tinkered with, then abandoned.

It's not completely known why Valve saw it fit to abandon the automatic weapons, but in my honest opinion, it would have made Scout slightly too easy.
