Not losing weight

I'm in the same boat. My husband is losing about five pounds a week. It took me three weeks to lose seven pounds. Then I had a couple of glasses of wine Friday night and gained half back. I figured it was just water retention, but apparently not. I've only shed one of those pounds since then.

I'm really starting to hate this. I'm hungry all the time. I can barely manage 15 minutes on the treadmill because I feel like shit all the time. (Keto flu, I guess.) I'm spending tons of money, tracking carbs, and pissing on sticks every day. I gave up my favorite foods for this?

I'm kind of like that. I found this link and thought back to my old Atkins days and how much weight I lost but how boring the food was. (We didn't have any money, so it got old fast.) One look at Holy Grail Pizza, and I knew I had to give it a try again. Splenda helps, too. Didn't have that last time. Anyway, I told Husband I wanted to give it a try and he was ecstatic. He's been begging me to do this, for his sake, for years. He needs to lose a lot more than I do.

I had one who was very upset that I was showing a film about environmental science in an environmental science class. I asked the kids why they only saw 20 minutes of the video in a 50 minute class. They told me he'd pause the video every few minutes to rant about liberal brainwashing.

I was a good sub, so I used to expect the best from my subs. I got over that fast. I work very hard to leave detailed and easy-to-follow lesson plans. (I have a very tough and chaotic daily schedule, so I try to make it as easy on my sub as possible without completely wasting the day.) The vast majority of the time, I come back and find that the sub was unable or unwilling to follow my plans (or show up on time). I pretty much just leave DVDs now. They screw that up, too.

I know it's not fair to the good subs out there, but experience has shown me that most subs are not very good and need instructions that a three-year-old can follow.

That said, I shout the names of the good subs from the rooftops. I guess that's why I can never get them anymore. They've got long-term assignments or accept jobs that are a lot less shitty than my day.

My bulletin board is full of no-name assignments, and nobody claims them. Ever. I don't care if they don't. I have a goddamn "Name: _____________________________" right there in the upper left hand corner. Can't fill in that blank with the only word you know how to spell correctly? You get a zero.

I love it when I accidentally print 150 PowerPoint slides instead of handouts (9 per page). It won't stop. I open the paper tray, but the tray has to go back in sometime. It just keeps printing. All day long. Poor little trees.

As stressed out, depressed, and stuck in a rut as I am right now, I'm still a hopeless optimist for the future. (My kids are everything and truly keep me sane, but that's so cliched that I shouldn't even go there.) I am so fascinated by what the future holds. When I was in high school, there were AT&T commercials (voiced by Tom Selleck) promising that one day we'd have electronic books, video phones, and voices in our cars giving us driving directions. It was so freaking Star Trek awesome that I just couldn't wait for it to be reality. Now it's all part of my daily life. Maybe someday we'll have those damn hoverboards that Back to the Future promised or be able to slap some photovoltaic paint on the roofs of our houses for electricity. Maybe we'll watch footage of somebody walking on Mars. I feel so bad for my friends who died before they could see it all.

They are also destroying highly sensitive habitats that could take centuries to recover. Horses, donkeys, pigs, cats, and a whole mess of introduced Old World ungulates like axis and blackbuck just don't belong here. The introduction of exotic species is one of the biggest threats (just behind habitat destruction) to biodiversity. (And, no, I will not cite my sources because I'm off the clock.)

Thank you. Seriously, that's the most WTF thing about this. How freaking lazy are people? It's like the bacon microwave cooking doohickey (it's called a plate). Do we really need another piece of crap technology to cramp up our kitchens for shit like this? A knife, people. It cuts bananas and penises with equal ease. Teeth work well, too. What is happening to the human species? Shit we're lazy. If you can't cut up a dick without this kind of technology, you really shouldn't be cutting up dicks in the first place.
