I had a friend that thought he got a great deal on shoes. $50 (with $70 shipping). Not such a great deal after all.

How to sync with Filemaker Pro by matt4541in filemaker

[–]craig5005 2 points3 points ago

If you have copies of FM installed on each computer, you can use the native FM Network to share the database. You could also use Internet Web Publishing to share the db.

Try to include more details on what exactly you are trying to accomplish. "Sync 1 database with 5 computers" isn't much.

Scripting is really powerful, I highly recommend you take some time to learn it. I was in the same boat as you once, taught myself. The way I learned scripting was to open some of the pre-made solutions provided with the software and read the scripts there. Learn what they are doing at each step and follow the data.

I haven't opened FM in awhile, so I can't remember much, so here goes nothing. If your record creation is controlled by a script, can you not just tell FM to make the ID in the second table to equal the ID in the first table?

And as gardenlevel said, make the first ID a auto-enter serial number field.

I made a test file and it seemed to work. https://www.dropbox.com/s/bwi9l2faycw3xjc/test.fp7 If this works, don't buy me gold, I was a grad student once too.

Expanding on what gardenlevel says, if you create a one to many, just make sure the new record script creates the record in the second table and takes the ID from the first table.

**Edit Sorry, that is a FM11 file, shouldn't matter though.

Well yes, but our universities are publicly funded so some of our taxes go towards subsidizing tuition costs.

I think the Wildrose party deployed so many phone messages that the only people picking their phones up were Wildrose supporters. And therefore the only people polled were Wildrose and hence the awful polling.

[–]craig5005 1 point2 points ago

Ya exactly. Less debt.... Less interest on that debt....less $ government has to collect in taxes.....less taxes people have to pay. People save more than $300 over the long run. (obviously not that easy but you get the idea).

It's one of those things when the benefit to the population is greater than the combined benefit to each individual in the population. Individuals just don't realize it because it means they don't get $300.

The taxes you pay are the "taxpayers dollars" but you let the government spend those. Simply returning a surplus to the people isn't a great use of money. Surplus dollars should be used to either pay down debt, invest in heritage fund or fund large capital projects (roads, buildings etc). These are the things Albertans will have to pay for eventually, why not use the surplus.

Ya but that $300 in the hands of a food bank can buy much more than $300 worth of food.

It is. When you elect a government you elect people to handle your money. That's where your taxes go.

The $300 Danielle dollars are the worst. 1. Why give $300 to people making $100,000+? The people that do need the money also don't have the proper means to actually save it (work sponsored RRSP plans etc) so they end up spending it on TVs. Not a great use of the money. Let the government use it to pay down debt, invest in capital, reduce deficit etc etc etc. We will get more bang for our buck that way. However when people are voting they think "vote wild rose and get $300....SURE!!!"

I agree. I have received some products through UPS and the worst part is having to pick up the item. UPS wouldn't leave it on my doorstep, so I had to drive all the way to the airport to their main terminal to pick it up. And I live in a very large Canadian city, this isn't some small town issue. This has happened to me numerous times.

Most arena's operate like this. People (Flames season ticket holders) pay for the right to the seats, not the tickets. They get first pick of any event as they pay for the rights to that seat. Season ticket holders pay an initiation fee, plus yearly dues on top of purchasing any tickets they want.
