Every Timeshare Is A Ripoff by Dailyviewin travel

[–]drucey 0 points1 point ago

As someone who has also worked in timeshare, this isn't quite true.

Perhaps it's just in the UK, but I worked for one of the most established and luxurious timeshare 'resorts' in the UK. Prices were extremely high, yet every cottage (approx 90) were pretty much sold out throughout the year.

Oh, and this is a 45 year old business. The original 30 year leases had expired, and many families re-purchased them. Perhaps unique to the timeshare market, is we offered a "buy back guarantee" - where any time between the 3rd and 15th year, we'd buy back the timeshare from you, at the pro-rata'd price you paid for it.

Quidco for your cashback needs by lavastormin UKFrugal

[–]drucey 5 points6 points ago

Quidco is absolutely brilliant.

For those who don't know - it's a referral site, that pays you the commission.

Say you want to purchase.. a TV. Instead of going direct to the supplier's website (Say tesco direct), you go to Quidco first, log in, and then click the "Tesco direct" link. This gets you to the regular Tesco site, but Tesco now know you came from Quidco. Any commission Quidco earns, they pass over to you.

When I remember, I go through Quidco - it takes seconds. I've saved up £288 from it in a year. Really worth doing.

They also have a great referral scheme - If someone does join up, it would be great if you could use this link: http://www.quidco.com/user/185069/email

Hot UK Deals - an essential UK Frugal site by druceyin UKFrugal

[–]drucey[S] -1 points0 points ago

I didn't see this linked already, and I'm sure most (if not all) know about this, but HotUKDeals is an incredible site. I check it every morning/evening, along with the usual checks, and have found some incredible bargains on there. Worth a bookmark.

I use Smile - it ticks all of your boxes, you can use any branch of the Post Office to pay in money/cheques etc, it's all online, friendliest call center staff if you do call, and free post address to pay in cheques also.

If you need another debit card, cheque book etc - 2 clicks on your internet banking. £500 free overdraft also

America's economy is nothing short of shocking.

I went to the ER last week with a small but deep cat bite. After waiting three hours a doctor told me to wash it in a nearby sink, wrote me a script for antibiotics and sent me on my way (no shots and no stitches.) Why do I now have to pay $1500? by Positively_Deliciousin self

America, one of the finest countries in the world, to which we should all be thankful for many developments.

But your medical system is nothing short of shocking. (Just to clarify - not the standard, but the system. It just seems overly capitalist, certainly not in the best interest of the general public.)

As someone who's been to all 5, and many more places in the UK, I'd disagree with pretty much all of them - with the exception of London!
