I just realised my way of life may be construed as alcoholism.

When it comes to restaurants, you need a beer when you're getting ready, a beer when you arrive, and if you're being smart and walked/PT'd to the restaurant you'd be set, you would be thirsty.

Now, by the time your date arrives, you're gonna need a drink while you choose what you're eating, then a beer after you've ordered while you wait, oh and a beer whilst for when you get your food, and then you start drinking for real after that.

I am Australian though, so my tolerances may be different.

Also, to answer the OP Question:

If you're stood up, order food like a fucking boss. Treat it as successfully dodging a bullet. You deserve that meal, and if anyone thinks otherwise, they're a sad excuse for a person to belittle someone for being alone.
