Did you or your dog find them? :p

Seriously though, I haven't ever found a morel... what type of habitat were these in? I'm trying to piece together a few places in oregon that would have a good probability of housing morels.

Amazing double exposed photos. by ThatOneCatttin photography

[–]fellowapeman 0 points1 point ago*

I think the 4th and the 6th one are great, but most of them look like there wasn't much thought put into them. They're portraits, though, and I suppose looking at them as such makes them a bit better.

Take a look at the rest of his photos... the low contrast and off-exposure seem to be his style and personally, I think it works well. Although to each their own.

Also - you can't really compare Jerry Uelsmann to anyone and expect it to be a remotely fair fight. He's done things with film which the lay photoshopper can only dream of.

If, for example, there were some sort of "tax refund allocation" check box to donate to NASA whenever I file my taxes (Oregon state tax refunds can be donated to different charities), I would, without a doubt, donate every year in addition to what my taxes have already paid for.

Basically, if I had the option to increase my taxes every year with that extra money going straight to NASA, I would do it in a heart beat.

what made you choose the Q701s over the K702s? I've found the 702's price to be the same or cheaper than the 701s on the internet... thinking about getting a pair of 702s myself when I get a little extra cash

great idea! What about adding a little cash register and counter or something for the guy on the left? I think that would help make it more obvious that a transaction had just been made and that the guy on the right wasn't just stealing the reddit logo haha

Bedroom curtains to help deaden sound (or other good sound deadening furniture) by fellowapemanin BeforeYouBuy

[–]fellowapeman[S] 1 point2 points ago

Thanks a lot for the info. Any ideas on the cheapest/most dense per sq/ft materials around? Cinder blocks and bricks might help diffract sounds, too, if I stacked them at odd angles.

That's actually a great recommendation, for I need a new bookshelf in my room and was deliberating on just how I'd make one. Maybe mix that up with some rigid fiberglass hidden behind pictures or placed randomly around. I'm not trying to sacrifice my my entire walls to make a recording studio or anything... just want to cut down on the echoeyness of the house.

an awesome fogless mirror for showers that actually works! by fellowapemanin BeforeYouBuy

[–]fellowapeman 0 points1 point ago

the problem with the rain-x is that it wears off. I think the typical fogless mirrors that you can buy use something similar to rain-x. They work great for about 3 showers and then they don't work at all. With this other type of system, you're nullifying the condensation before it can even form... no need for any special coating. These are way better.

Bedroom curtains to help deaden sound (or other good sound deadening furniture) by fellowapemanin BeforeYouBuy

[–]fellowapeman[S] 0 points1 point ago

So our house is all hardwood floors but we don't have a ton of furniture and the drapes over our windows are very thin. It can get very echo-y walking around. I think I might get a few sets of these drapes to try and stymie the loose sounds in the rest of the house. Also, our windows suck so that should help a lot with insulation!

I actually considered buying a bunch of acoustic foam to make into cool abstract patterns on some of the walls... still might do that, heh

awesome, that's what I'm looking for. There were some other 'blackout' curtains on amazon with high reviews but they're $60. These look great.

an awesome fogless mirror for showers that actually works! by fellowapemanin BeforeYouBuy

[–]fellowapeman 1 point2 points ago

I think I saw this in one of those mega "products under $15 that changed your life"-last-minute-holiday-gift-excuse threads this past holiday season. Having tried to use many-a fogless mirror in the shower, I decided to buy one of these (yes, it's over $15).

It's a really well-designed product. To combat fogging, you actually fill the mirror up with hot water while in the shower which prevents condensation from forming on the glass due to temperature difference. You stick it to the wall of your shower using an included tube of silicone - this thing won't fall off your wall like the suction cup kind. It's also got a little built-in shelf for your razor or toothbrush AND a little squeegee to keep the mirror free of water (nice touch!).

This is how all products should be designed... simple, to the point, and functional.

BIFL - Change its definition? by FuckYouImFunnyin BuyItForLife

[–]fellowapeman 0 points1 point ago

exactly! I was really surprised there wasn't one already... I love BIFL but sometimes you just want general advice. Any tips on making this subreddit more viewable? It'll only work if we can get a sizable amount of subscribers.

BIFL - Change its definition? by FuckYouImFunnyin BuyItForLife

[–]fellowapeman 0 points1 point ago

Funny this showed up in BIFL because I was just about to post something similar. I would really like a place where you can ask for recommendations on buying anything. I can appreciate a subreddit on buying things that last a lifetime, but there is no reddit for buying general things.

Since I couldn't find any subreddit that targeted this idea, I just created one: /r/BeforeYouBuy - anyone want to help out with it?
