For my cake day, a photo of the most expensive sailing yacht in the world, the Maltese Falcon (OC) [4000x3000] by imprezasurfin MachinePorn

I just finished a wooden model of Bluenose, same rig. Now onto Altair, same rig. We have a good taste in boats.

Pretty hard to paint without being able to distinguish cerulean and ultramarine etc.

Which makes it hilarious to think if there were a god what fun he'd have with the universe rewind button, replaying his favourite disasters over and over again.

Full of rich-man decor, wood, leather, stainless steel, and lifeless bits of metal sculpture.

Rebecca Brooks, former Murdoch editor for News of the Screws.

PE is almost impossible for a foreign audience, it deals too much with minutae that never leaves UK shores.

Have to admit, that I felt the same for years, only time I looked at it, it seemed full of elitist in-jokes and stuff I wasn't interested in, in my early 20's then a workmate subscribed and used to leave it lying around and I eventually got hooked, about the same time I got interested in politics and the corruption of local government. Suddenly it clicked for me. I guess I buy it every other week now. One of those things that you need to be tuned in to. A lot of it is still crap and full of in-jokes, but I believe for sure it is a useful and important, and sometimes humorous vehicle for showing up shenanigans in politics and local councils.

Sadly many newsagents, who can't be bothered opening it, think its porno, so you'll often find it on the top shelf just to the left of Mature mums and Just eighteen lovelies.

A self furling square rigger, no climbing up the rigging to manhandle sails just a few switches and computers to handle the sails. Until something breaks or seizes up.

Sadly from the pictures of it under sail it looks more like a chinese junk than a square rigger. The lack of bowsprit and jibs adds to that effect.

Sad that something with such potential to look beautiful looks nothing of the sort.

But then perhaps my mind is preconditioned to what a three masted square rigger should look like so when something breaks that mould it can never look right to me. Ah well.

My version of the TL;DR:

Monetary union, without economic and political union, across disparate nations with diverse economies is doomed to fail.

That's one of those sentences that has possibly never been written before, and never will be again.

It seems like photographers have their work stolen a lot. This blogger had his entire article stolen by a newspaper - and decided to do something about it. The video at the bottom is awesome. by chakalakaspin photography

I find it interesting that the blogger reproduces a section of an article "what is pagiarism" without saying that it was reproduced with permission. Yes, he does linkback to the original, but that doesn't make it OK to copy without citing the permission and that the source is copyright.

Original author states: Copyright Janice Hally. Contact the author to obtain permission for republication.

I guess we can assume he contacted Janice Halley and she said, "go ahead with cutting a bit out of my article on your blog, and as its about plagiarism, don't bother with putting anything about it being reproduced with permission."

Intestinal fortitude. One wonders whether those guys working fast food really, really bother washing their hands after taking a dump. Would explain a lot of what we hear about.

Because its the butter that is propulsive, the bread acts as a carrier. Yeast would be like a car without wheels. Or a helicopter without a rotor.

Southern comfort. Forty years ago I nearly killed myself drinking it. Puked for a day solid.

Now the smell of it has me gagging forty years later.

Why use toast, just use a block of butter.

Why bread, just a piece of butter.

Then, why use toast, just a block of butter should do it.
