It doesn't sound like the guilt is serving you well right now. I assume this is something you'll have to carry around forever, more or less, but time will make it easier. Your wife certainly won't be able to forgive you if you can't learn to forgive yourself. Not to deny blame but give yourself permission to be alive as your name suggests.

I can assure you that people all around do equally destructive acts. Every day partners forgive one another for heinous deeds. We try and learn from our mistakes and often become better and good people.

I'd like to do a survey of how many besides myself have thoughts about what if something very much like this happened. Being angry, or acting stupid, and a tragedy occurring. I've been angry and been lucky too many times to believe. Heck, driving an automobile is scary every day.

I hope you can see the way to get through this guilt with your wife. Compounding the guilt now would be a bad idea. You need to forgive yourself, and so does she. [Edited: You also seem to be holding on to the blame you feel for your wife. Recognize it's there, maybe write that down, accept it, and forgive her.]

I'm sure Deadbase or even setlists.com would give you the date and venue for any songs. FWIW, I just popped in a '77 that I was told have the first Terrapin (not the full suite), Estimated and a couple others, which I can't complain over much.

40 years later it would be an alternate universe. Jimi pushed the boundaries so hard, the music landscape would be entirely different had he lived even four more years (doubling his career). Politics, too. He probably would have innovated for another decade and today he'd be jamming with people who never got born in our universe.

Screw the downers. I skipped college and am pretty happy at 37 and know tons of people who did same. I had admin experience and kept at that, started a family at 29 when I found the perfect woman. But I had a shitton of fun for 11 years. When my old friends were in college I was living life as hard as i could without any responsibilities besides stay alive. You can go wherever you want and do want you want to do. I don't regret not achieving more. Money isn't important to me and I do fine. If it is to you may have to try a little harder than someone finishing law school. One thing I definitely learned is the axiom is true: you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

I don't feel it's a matter of right or wrong, or it doesn't need to be. You are in a consensual relationship and you can set your own boundaries.

The question I would ask myself is whether or not this type of texting between her and her ex is something you can accept. If you don't consider this cheating and trust her not to cheat (however you care to define it) then giving her your conditional blessing might be a sign she's looking for.

Versus clamping down, which might have the reaction you don't want. You did nothing wrong by bringing up the question and your concerns. That's part of the negotiation between partners. But she held her ground and that's also allowed. Now you should think about giving her some leeway or at least a compromise. Otherwise you're into ultimatum territory and that goes nowhere.

Personally, I don't think this was over the line. I prefer to give my wife a long rope so that the communication stays open. But she is also a very private person, and I like it that way. She doesn't text her ex and I don't get jealous.

Tl/dr: Either tell your SO that you're okay as long as she stays within the lines of decency, or just start packing.
