I worked at a used bookstore and we'd throw away hundreds of books a week. It's usually not good literature. It's stuff like old mechanics manuals or histories of some stupid company that people had in their library and bequeathed to us. There's absolutely no market for those things at all.

One of my best friends is a really talented graphic artist who designs for Walmart because her ex saddled her with 20,000 in debt and two kids in the divorce. There are a lot of great people there who are given no freedom with their work—corporate views them as highly skilled laborers, not creative talent. It blows.
