Smallpox vaccination is not 20th century medicine.

The Chinese were inoculating against the disease in 10th century and inoculation was widely practiced there in the 16th century. As for Europeans the Royal Society in England was debating inoculation at the beginning of the 18th century and conducted their first inoculation in 1721. In America Cotton Mather inoculated hundreds of Bostonians in that same year.

Although the manner and method the disease spread was widely known if not completely understood, by the time Indians were being decimated by smallpox infection inoculation had been practiced by western medicine for almost 200 years.

So is President Obama still ordering the murder of US citizens abroad? Still failing to prosecute the torturers and killers in our government? Still illegally spying on our private communications?

Because regardless of the rest of this, however much Romney's patron and his Republican henchmen lie, cheat and steal to win the presidency Obama is only better by comparison, and then just marginally.

If I wanted to vote for a duplicitous, dishonest freedom hating conservative I have a lot better choices than Obama.

¡Orale! Apparently a common American response to communication problems is to speak broken Mexican Spanish. In Italy I heard several Italians with limited English skills say "I don't speak Spanish" to Americans.

It's funny but to my ear (having grown up hearing Mexican Spanish) a Cuban Spanish accent sounds a lot like Italian - so much so that I actually said to a Cuban woman "It's remarkable how similar your Italian is to Spanish".

I used hyperbole to make my point but if my hypothetical occurred exactly as described your argument about why my right to privacy must be subordinate to someone else's profit motive would still apply.

It's not "bias" to demand privacy, it's my right and you don't get to breezily wave it away just because you want to make a buck violating it.

There is no debate going on about where life begins or the value of potential intelligence or the nature of morality because the right has already decided these things without you and they don't give a shit what you think about it.

I grasp very well that conservatives hold extremist and illogical views about abortion that causes them to go on uncompromising campaigns against anyone who thinks otherwise. What they (and you) don't grasp is that this is simply an observation, not an argument about the facts.

If you want to wag your finger then wag it at the idiots who refuse to debate these questions unless we first stipulate that 8 cells is a toddler and anyone who disagrees is Charlie Manson.

I tend to agree about the special effects, although it is water under the bridge at this point. We can no longer tell what is real and what is digital, so a whiz-bang dangerous stunt is most likely not live action and this takes away a lot of the appeal.

Really? It is the universally recognized dishonesty of the typical atheist that makes religionists hate us? Sure.

The Gideons put bibles in hotel rooms specifically for people to take them if they want to. I take them and throw them away (and the Book of Morman and the Koran, both of which I've had in rooms as well). This isn't stealing, it's just using the offered book in a different way then what was intended. You can't freely give someone something and then complain as to how they use it - or rather you can but I don't recognize your "right" to dictate this to me.

Personally I think the Bible is garbage and If the Gideons don't like me cleaning up after them when they leave their trash laying around (in the room I paid for no less) they should just stop leaving stuff.
