What's so great about Diablo? by Eggfibrein truegaming

[–]leph 2 points3 points ago

For me one of the coolest things about D2 as well as D3 was the nearly endless character customization. Although there were cookie cutter builds, you were never forced to use them. You also weren't forced to use typical items on your characters if you didn't want to. You could rock a sword wielding sorceress and go completely melee, or throw a bow on your paladin to create a totally different character experience.

This freedom helped to spawn a ton of creative ways to play characters. Later runewords were added that gave class specific skills to anyone who equipped the runeword, giving your character even more options. You could have sorceresses that shapeshifted, barbarians using paladin auras, assassins casting teleport, etc.

The other aspect that was always neat was the trading. I loved following the markets and seeing what was worth what. It was like following a stock market where things were constantly increasing/decreasing in value. The idea that you could start to play the game with absolutely nothing and in a few months amass a huge amount of in game wealth was really appealing.

Another thing was the aspect of community with the people you played with. I'm not talking about the typical random bnet users, but playing with friends was great. Although this goes for lots of MMOs, somehow diablo was just different. You could play with a group of people and help each other out not only with beating the game, but also you were constantly finding items that your friends could use on their characters, and vice versa.

You also had pvp as well, so that was another draw for a lot of people to come up with a completely different player combat focused build. Diablo had something for everyone, and it's been nearly 12 years since D2 was released, so I think that's why you're seeing such hype for it.

Haha, maybe I should have a better explanation. Awesome that you got through almost all. I'll continue working to improve it/add more challenging questions & different categories since it seems like there's some interest :)

I mainly just made this to work on my web design skills in part, but also to help me prepare for interviews myself. I'm planning on adding more specific job categories/questions soon, such as sales, customer service, management, programming, etc. Hopefully it's helpful for others to prepare responses to common questions.

I don't live in PGH but I had the opportunity to visit your fine city two summers ago and had a blast. One of my favorite places from the entire trip however was at a neat restaurant unlike anything I've ever experienced before. It's a Hungarian restaurant (Jozsa Corner) owned by an elderly gentleman named Alex.

You don't really go and pop in there for a quick meal like most places. Reservations are required at least a day in advance. Basically there are no cooks, no waiters, no hosts, etc. There are just two huge tables in a living room that everyone sits together at, so you dine next to strangers like a huge family. Alex just starts serving you whatever he's in the mood to make, and the food just keeps coming and coming. I think when we were there we got about 8 or 9 different courses in total. When I was there everyone hung out for a few hours and just chilled. Alex told a ton of stories about fighting against and escaping from former Soviet Hungary and arriving in America. He's definitely a badass.

Oh and it was $15 per person. He only takes cash. But seriously, coolest restaurant I've ever been to, hands down.

What is the most fulfilling game that you've ever played? by Giantpanda602in Games

[–]leph 3 points4 points ago

It's more about the things that you experience later within the game that make it so memorable. In 99% of RPGs what do you do to restore health? Eat an elixir/potion. What do you in earthbound? Use a freaking phone to call for pizza delivery. The game constantly jokes and makes fun of itself from within the game, and has some extremely funny & witty humor. You fight zombies, evil hippies, and killer fire hydrants. You ally with bubblegum chewing monkeys and the loch ness monster and even undertake a huge quest for a trout flavored yogurt dispenser. The soundtrack is also superb and the story is fantastic.

I've still yet to play my way through HL2 aside from the demo. I finished HL1 and loved it though! Would love to be able to play it :)
