Waiters/waitress of Reddit, what kind of people never tip? by mohsenwebcomin AskReddit

The nature of this thread is about generalizing groups of people. No one is saying every Black person acts a certain way and no one is saying that every eldery person acts a certain way, but these are all GENERALIZATIONS. so you throwing in here your one black friend who doesn't fit the stereotype is neither here nor there.

I'm not going to start this with the cliche "not to be racist/stereotypical" because the nature of this question is about generalizing people.

The elderly and Indian people come in with a million coupons and often ignore the fact that the coupon says you can only use one at a time. They will also demand to use expired coupons. The elderly will do this and they will also split the check 12 ways, plus their coupon, and they'll barely tip at all.

Black people don't tip as well as other groups of people. Most of the insulting tips I've ever gotten (like $.83 on a meal that cost $60) are from Black people.

Families with children usually tip well. Probably because they feel guilty that their child spilled shit everywhere and screamed during the entire dinner service.

Teenagers usually tip about 10% of what they order, but they usually only order a salad and split it so 10% of $9.95 is nothing.

Asian people are a grab bag. It's hard to tell whether they're americanized enough to know to tip 10-15% or if they're foreign in which case they almost always only leave $1-2 no matter how much their meal was. They also don't go out to eat frequently and I rarely see them (I worked at an Italian restaurant though so maybe that's why).

White people are most likely to order alcohol and tip appropriately (15% for good service, 13% for standard service). However, they are also the most likely to eat all of their food then say there was something wrong with it and demand that the food be on the house.

College students are really cheap and will often take advantage of whatever complimentary items or specials that are there. Like it's only college students who come in and have one person order never ending soup and go around splitting it between 4 people despite having the manager come over multiple times to tell them to knock it off.

If you see just two women come in, be prepared to have them sit there for 3 hours talking only ordering 2 drinks the entire time and not giving a shit that the restaurant is closed or that it's a busy dinner service and there's a long wait.

Yea, and in my experience a lot of times they have like 40 coupons and they stack them up and want to use them all. Even if the coupon clearly says you can only use one at a time or if it's expired, they'll insist on it and demand to talk to a manager.

Wow, good story. Clearly all of the servers here are wrong.

What kind of industry tricks are you aware of to trick the customer into spending more money? by pancakerin AskReddit

[–]lewildcard 2 points3 points ago

At higher end restaurants, the server is supposed to drop the desert menu to the customer right before they finish their entree that way the customer doesn't feel quite full yet and can peruse the desert menu while they're still feeling hungry. The server places the order and usually the customer begins to feel full as they're waiting for the desert to be prepared, but it's already too late. If a server waits until a customer is done eating their entree (especially since customers almost always order appetizers at higher end restaurants) they usually don't order desert too because they're already full.

Washing lemons with bleach isn't good. A lot of people squeeze their lemons and then dunk the lemons in the water and leave them to soak.

What would be too big of an age gap in a relationship? by cmchris1in AskReddit

[–]lewildcard 0 points1 point ago

Every relationship is different. There isn't one formula that dictates what makes a relationship successful and what doesn't. It's really something that's up to the individuals involved.

Settle a bet between me and my SO? Is it creepy or romantic when a loved one watches you sleep? by andrewiknowyouin AskReddit

the question isn't about looking at your SO, it's about looking at them when they're sleeping.

What should I get my best friend / his bride for a Wedding gift? by foyle_jauntin AskReddit

Most people have a wedding registry where you can buy items within your price range that they've already picked out because they need it.

Reddit, I've had sex with 12 guys and my boyfriend thinks thats OVER THE TOP. Whats your number? and what is tolerable for you? by atrakajin AskReddit

[–]lewildcard 0 points1 point ago

Honestly, the amount of people you have sex with is a personal decision and there is no "cut off number" that makes you a slut or doesn't.

Your boyfriend should accept you for who you are and the decisions you've made. If he doesn't and criticizes you/makes you feel bad about who you are and what you've done, you might want to rethink the relationship.

I agree, but recently I think it's been going downhill. Chevy Chase recently came out and said it's becoming a mundane sitcom too.

What's the most annoying thing that's kept you awake? by br0ny4lyfin AskReddit

[–]lewildcard 2 points3 points ago

i'm in the hospital a lot and a lot of the newer technology beds move up and down automatically so you don't get bed sores. it's so annoying because you can't fall asleep since the sudden movement and the accompanying loud whirring noise of the bed moving lasts about 20 seconds total.

Katy Perry named her cat Kitty Purry which I thought was kind of funny.
