In his Le Grande Macabre there's a mallet striking wooden box hit that is at 10 f's if I recall correctly. I'll see if I can dig up the picture I took of it. Might be long gone by now, though.

Edit: Found it :)

I'm with you on this one. I think that if the batsman is able to arbitrarily change his batting stance as the bowler is running in, leg-side omission of LBW should be disregarded. The bowlers will need to adjust their line when the change in stance occurs, and I think this levels the playing field. Of course this is a big change I don't expect to happen.

Yep, it's very cool, but the commentators raise a very good point. Bowlers bowl a certain way depending on whether the batsman is left-handed or right-handed.

Of course the point could be raised that:

a) It's a pre-meditated shot. Ie it is being performed before the ball is even released, making it extremely risky and perhaps giving the bowler enough time to adjust his line. Of course not every bowler could do this.

b) The specific ball of Ravi Ashwin to a left-handed David Warner would have been very wide. Again, it's possible he adjusted his line or it's possible (likely) that he was distracted by Dave's switch.

Another scenario must be raised and will come up if this is to continue (as I'm sure it will). Consider Ashwin not changing his line (assuming he did) and he continued to bowl outside off-stump to a left hander. In Dave Warner's scenario, it would be too wide to hit, but seeing as he is a naturally left-handed batsman, I don't see how the umpires could call a wide. Perhaps the bowler didn't have enough time to adjust his line, and then again, why should they have to if a batsman is going to be so capricious? I certainly hope they wouldn't call it a wide.

If Dave had missed that ball, it would have continued past what would have been his natural leg-stump. By a long way. But you shouldn't call that a wide either, as Dave switched his grip and stood the other way. Perhaps the bowler did adjust his line. This leaves us with a problem. When this move happens, it essentially gives a bowler two off-stumps (for the purposes of wide-balls).

Because the people they are trying to convince, ie majority voters and legislators, tend to not spend as much time on the internet. The message isn't being used effectively in the slightest sense. Those who recognise the meme will likely already oppose ACTA and other internet censorship legislation.

The people they're trying to convince will likely be confused at what they're doing and disregard them as jokers. Because that's what that is. It's a joke. Opposing serious legislation with jokes is a one-way ticket to dismissal.

Test cricket is certainly in an exciting time right now. Any and all teams have a chance. What incredible spin bowling by Pakistan. A truly terrifying attack. Panesar was also fantastic.

Edit: All teams except Zimbabwe, apparently.

Cheers :) How strange, having a shot at the crowd. I was in the Chappell stands and everyone stood up and applauded, saying how well he played and how he deserved it. But I get the feeling he doesn't even want the crowd's appreciation. He got it and then rejected it.

It's in the middle of the working week. Yesterday was a public holiday hence the huge attendance, but placing a test match on a Tuesday is a surefire way to guarantee shitty attendance.

According to former India Captain Saurav Ganguly, Kallis is the most effective test batsman by twelveby5in Cricket

[–]liquidtension 4 points5 points ago*

Jacques Kallis is one of the most oft-forgotten batsmen of this era. Most people jump to Lara, Tendulkar and Ponting with Dravid as a mention, but Kallis is just as good as any of them, if not a better overall player because of his almost 300 test wickets. The guy is incredible.

Yesterday before the game the guys with microphones were asking kids who their favourite player was. Asked about 5 kids, every single one said Michael Clarke (except for one that said Michael Jordan). I know they're kids, but shit, you've gotta feel accepted once that happens.
