Penny Arcade explains why you're going to keep paying for Gold no matter what they charge.

It's the occasional comments like these that temporarily restore my faith in r/gaming. People on here are so cheap sometimes.

Does anyone else think that games like Fire Emblem or other turn based strategies require more thought and understanding than Starcraft II?

montage420 2 points3 points 2 days ago[-]

The people who beat him in starcraft would just beat him worse in whatever turn based strategy game he chooses.

It's because as you grow older you realize the only thing you (potentially) could do to change it is get rich. Go become a billionaire then talk about changing the world.

Eh, whatever.. it's the same thing as valve putting single player on team fortress 2. There's no reason for it to happen.

Reddit: where should I go now that the Digg invasion is in full effect?

montage420 1 point2 points 5 days ago[-]

I've been here for 4 years (my profile says 2 or 3.. not sure, I lurked for a while). What you have to understand is that reddit at one point did have a concentrated community of intelligent people.. and that's hard to come by on the internet. When I first got here, one of the "unwritten rules" was "tell smart people about reddit, tell stupid people about digg".

That community has changed.. whether for good or bad, some of us still miss the way it used to be. Some people will say this golden age I speak of never existed.. but I just think they weren't here long enough. I know there's some people who have been here longer than me who would agree.

But that's neither here nor there. I, for one, am eager to see what reddit will become.

Anyway, I'm just trying to give you a sense of why you will see people like purgueflantar hating all over the place.

Wow.. this is pure, 100% bull shit. Why do we have a system that discourages people from taking responsibility for their actions?

Cool man.

Forget semantics: Playing a game for which the creator expects a monetary exchange, but not providing that, is dishonest and immoral.

montage420 0 points1 point 9 days ago[-]

Not sure how I ignored your point, I don't think those words could be any more concise. Sadly, neither of us have changed the others viewpoint, so for now we will have to agree to disagree. Keep buying your used games, and I'll keep buying my new games..

The people who try to save a few bucks buying used are the exact people who would never donate to the devs. Anyway, I was just on penny arcade and Jerry just put up a relevant post.. allow me to borrow his words.

"If I am purchasing games in order to reward their creators, and to ensure that more of these ingenious contraptions are produced, I honestly couldn't figure out how buying a used game was any different than piracy. From the the perspective of a developer, they are almost certainly synonymous."

All I'm saying is you should show a little respect for the artists who make these things. If you really enjoy an artist's work, you should want to get your money to them somehow.

Yes there is, and until you understand that we will continue to bitch. You are diverting money away from the industry and into the pockets of people who have absolutely nothing to do with video games. Because of people like you, video games are always slightly worse than they could be.
