A guy on my facebook posted this. Apparently the juice had a weird taste and so he opened the pouch to find this inside..... Any idea what this is reddit? by Rigglebopin WTF

[–]my_cat_joe 1 point2 points ago

I volunteered in a food bank for a while, and one of the grossest things we had come down the line was gallon jug of juice with a giant ball of mold floating in the middle of it. We cut off the label and kept it for a while. It looked just like a preserved specimen.

Neil Young: "Piracy is the new radio. That's how music gets around...That's the radio. If you really want to hear it, let's make it available, let them hear it" by nomdewebin Music

[–]my_cat_joe 7 points8 points ago

People are downvoting you because you don't know what the fuck you are talking about. Neil's website has been a constantly changing work of art for at least a decade. His living with war website collected thousands of anti-war songs from thousands of unknown of artists. The man made his own electric car for crying out loud. He knows a wee bit about technology. You, on the other hand, know nothing about Neil Young.

Personally, I have a hard time watching MLS. World-class talent should be in a world-class league, like the EPL.

Why Everton should buy Landon Donovan. by KlausJanVanWolfhausin soccer

[–]my_cat_joe 5 points6 points ago

Donovan is a class act, and a pleasure to watch. You don't have to tell any U.S. fans how accurate he is with the ball. It's obvious that he has a passion for the sport, that he trains accordingly, and that he wants to win no matter what colors he wears. However, I don't see the Galaxy letting him go outside of loans. It would be to Everton's benefit, no doubt, but I don't see it happening.

Just out of curiosity, what's the purpose of the old wood piece running along the foundation which looks like it's nailed into the cinder blocks?

IAmA Former Gameroom Employee of Chuck. E. Cheese. I saw a lot there. It was nuts. AMA. by jakemgin IAmA

[–]my_cat_joe 0 points1 point ago

Chuck E Cheese exists because no one wants to have their home destroyed by a children's birthday party. That's their entire business model, and they prop that business model up with minimum wage labor. Just imagine birthday party after birthday party, day after day, year after year and it's pretty easy to see how any Chuck E Cheese employee has lots of stories to tell. I loved those places as a kid, but now I regard them as too filthy to set foot in. So yes, I imagine your picture is pretty accurate.

It's taken scientists 30 years just to figure out how to describe Siphusauctum gregarium, a creature that lived in the ocean 500 million years ago. It's literally like nothing else on Earth. by DrJulianBashirin science

[–]my_cat_joe 0 points1 point ago

Actually, yeah. A large part of the book is about the disagreement on how to classify these weird lifeforms. The work is pretty painstaking, and the scientific progress based on that work is extremely slow. It's an interesting topic despite the lack of consensus, or maybe even because the lack of consensus.

Anyone interested in the topic should check out Gould's book on the Burgess Shale. Most of what is found in the Burgess Shale has no relationship whatsoever to modern lifeforms. Gould does a fantastic job of making the topic as awesome as it really is.

I had a cassette tape with Lawn Boy on one side and Rift on the other. I also had a tape of Amy's Farm, set 3, I believe. I wore those tapes out.

we got the man who assembled the Dream Team! by Edward40Handsin Colts

[–]my_cat_joe 1 point2 points ago

What? The Colts had cap room this year. They were #1 or #2 in terms of cap room for a minute. We drafted on the cheap and didn't go after any free agents. Hell, we had enough money to give Kerry Collins a big retirement present. If Sproles could have waited until August, we could have paid him. There was something like 15 million in cap space at that point.

I'm still a bit pissed we didn't go after Darren Sproles. How many ways does a guy have to beat you before you think about signing him?

What is, in your opinion, the most powerful music you have ever listened to? by [deleted]in Music

[–]my_cat_joe 2 points3 points ago

I'm partial to the symphonies of Jean Sibelius. Particularly as conducted by Eugene Ormandy with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Powerful songs powerfully done. Look for Finlandia, Valse Triste, and any of the symphonies and you are set for some powerful listening.

I've also constructed some nice ones from 3-way copper wire like the stuff you can buy by the foot from Lowe's. It's easy to shape, you can get it as long as you need, and you can use electrical connectors to just join the stuff to the exposed copper of a piece of co-ax.

I'd worry more about industrial solvents, but if that's a concern you can always clean the piece with a heat gun or put it in the oven for a while to burn off anything which isn't steel!
