Asked my boss about some albums he had...Part Two by BATTLEMAGE420in vinyl

[–]my_cat_joe 0 points1 point ago

Are you a listener or a collector? I'd keep some and sell some, especially if there are duplicates. I'm sure if you pick right, you can break even without losing anything that you might fall in love with!

Unfamiliar measurements in US recipes by fruntin Cooking

I laughed. This describes my sister perfectly. I always offer to cook on the holidays, but I think she's afraid that I'll make food with taste to it!

Without a doubt, the coolest (and most unexpected) gift I've ever received. A 1912 Victrola. Thanks grandpa! by misterquinin pics

[–]my_cat_joe 0 points1 point ago

That Victrola is in really good condition. I'm always keeping my eyes open in the hopes of scoring one, but I've never seen one as nice as that in the wild. That is ancient technology and only works with 78s. Sorry, man. Appreciate it for what it is and go hunting for some good shellac!

Baseball Stadiums with the cheapest (& most expensive) beer. by nomdewebin beer

I'm more curious if any of these stadiums have beer worth drinking.

Turned on my ps3 today with a message about downloading a patch for Journey...anyone have any ideas what the patch is for? by godly967in PS3

[–]my_cat_joe 17 points18 points ago

Any way you want it, you're going to have to download that patch. You might as well do it faithfully, and welcome it with open arms. Don't stop believing that the patch is appropriate for your software. Sometimes you just can't go separate ways from your ps3.

What the hell is austerity? by doublementhin SocialDemocracy

[–]my_cat_joe 2 points3 points ago

It's sort of one of the endgames of the class war. Rich people don't like social programs or socialized nations, so they want nations to cut back on social spending under the threat of bank collapses and other forms of economic terrorism. They can't call it "class warfare" or "economic terrorism" so they came up with "austerity." Then, when the people are done tightening their belts and doing without social programs, more marketplaces are created and the rich assholes get even richer and more powerful. Rinse and repeat.

What we really are doing in Iraq. (NSFW) by SgtTibblesin conspiracy

[–]my_cat_joe 2 points3 points ago

Toxic, and it gets everywhere. Basically when it vaporizes, when it is used in weapons, it separates down to the atomic level. That means those clouds of toxic vaporized metal not only get everywhere, but they can't be seen with the naked eye. It's pretty disgusting shit.

Found this while Geocaching. Maybe a bomb? by Flowtosin WTF

[–]my_cat_joe 0 points1 point ago

Yep. Unexploded ordnance from WWI even manages to explode sometimes. Some of the bombs actually become more likely to explode over time as the detonators decay.

Modular brass mini pipe (details in the comments) by vinsneezelin StonerEngineering

I'm always amazed when I see kids posting things they made out of aluminum foil and plastic. Get to a hardware store! They'll sell you all kinds of shit you can smoke dope out of, and you don't have to be 18 to buy stuff there.

Bought a Beatles 1966 Second State Butcher Album for $1 last Sunday at a flea market by mr_gigawattin vinyl

[–]my_cat_joe 7 points8 points ago

If it was in a record store or an antique store I'm sure they knew what it was and priced it accordingly. They weren't all paste-overs. Most copies out there are just the album with the new cover.

That's still pretty exciting stuff! Surrealistic Pillow is fantastic. So is that Love album. Happy Trails! Benefit! Music From Big Pink! Also, that soundtrack is considered a proper Bob Dylan album even though it's a lot of instrumental stuff. It's got Booker T and Roger McGuinn on it!

"An Islamist who believes that the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States were an American conspiracy is the front-runner in Egypt’s presidential race, a new poll shows." by YouthInRevoltin conspiracy

[–]my_cat_joe -1 points0 points ago

the attack was (awkwardly and not convincingly) defined as an act of "war."

Not to mention, conveniently, lol!

Gotta start with the basics. Unless, of course, you want to jump into a war. In that case, fuck it, we'll shoot from the hip!

I have the latest Firefox, and updated flash. It's giving me an error about MIME support. I'll try it in Chrome later.

It's funny that criminal investigations often begin with motive, and no criminal investigation was ever done in the case of 9/11. It's really funny when you think that both possible sides had religious motives, then add to that so many other motives in the case of an inside job. On motive alone, the inside job theory is the much stronger one and always has been.

[–]my_cat_joe 1 point2 points ago

I couldn't get this one to load, but I'd like to find it. This history is kind of fascinating stuff. The big fruit companies (like, United Fruit especially) sort of used their money and power to help create a political stranglehold on these Caribbean nations. They did the early work of what would become the CIA. As a result, there isn't much documented history on this subject.

Asked my boss about some albums he had, Was only half expecting to get what I did. Prepare yourself by BATTLEMAGE420in vinyl

[–]my_cat_joe 0 points1 point ago

I'm sure we'd all be curious to see. The fellow you got these from had some excellent taste in music. I'm sure there are hidden gems. Like the New Riders album in the first set. They have a lot of so-so stuff, but Powerglide is a fantastic album. We could certainly help you separate the goodies from the stinkers!

What's the best Documentary that's on YouTube about 9/11? not the conspiracy stuff but just about the event. by solaybroin Documentaries

[–]my_cat_joe 1 point2 points ago

I get that, but there really aren't any middle ground documentaries. That's my only point. I've been consuming anything 9/11 related for 10 years. Those things just don't exist.

It's a touchstone subject. It's used like a political football. The fact that we haven't arrived at a consensus, historical viewpoint to construct a documentary from should tell you a lot. There aren't "more conflicting details." It's all conflicting details!

It's like this. If you believe the official story, and leave out most of the fact, you'll make something akin to a propaganda piece, and it will be on the Discovery Channel, and it will be horrible. If you scratch the surface, and look at some of the facts, look at the thousands of conflicting details, and have a mind which thinks, you'll make a "conspiracy film." There's just nothing in the middle. It's hard to get that objective view of this cultural milestone because it's still very much with us, and the truth of it has been buried from view. What the OP wants to see would be like looking for a documentary about concentration camps in post-war Germany. You aren't going to find much.

Now documentary films about the cultural effects of 9/11 and how it lead to war, well, that's a different subject. There are lots of those! I could make a huge list of recommendations on those.

My best advice for the OP would be to look at newscasts of the day or simply original source material which hasn't been editorialized. Good luck with that though!

[–]my_cat_joe 2 points3 points ago

No offense, but it's either propaganda for the official story or "conspiracy stuff." There's not much in between. If you stick to the propaganda side, you're going to get about 1% of the information out there about the events of the day. That seems like a waste of time to me.
