I have 2 kids under 5 and I'm doing my 2nd marathon, and I've done probably 4 races a season since the first was born. I run 3-5 days per week year round.

Actually, I'm doing 5 tonight and 15 tomorrow.

It is all possible, if you push yourself. [x-post /r/c25k] by tkelitoin running

[–]myangryinch 1 point2 points ago

Definitely possible. My speed broke through when I started mixing in different workout types. Fartlek, 200 and 400 repeats, hills, etc. Then the longer distances almost seem like a break, and your easy pace is naturally faster. My long slow run this morning was 9 miles at 8:45 per mile.

Similar situation here. I went from 6'2" 278 down to 225. I'm still losing weight very slowly but besides that I'm much happier being active. I finished a 5k in 21:05, my last 1/2 marathon was 1:49:21, and I'm in training for marathon #2! when I started I had to quit my first mile and walk the rest, took me over 12 minutes if I remember correctly.

Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan - Maybe not my favorite, but definitely in the top 5. Worth the read.

I'm 1/2 way through the third book. This is a very well timed trilogy. I'm looking forward to finishing it to get to the ending as much as just having the story finally wrapped up in general.

Morning runners-- how do you do it? by ntgntg3in running

[–]myangryinch 0 points1 point ago

I tried to start morning running twice now, but I never get over the stomach cramps. I have to run home to "relieve" myself within 2 miles no matter I do. After 2-3 days I give up.

LPT: Use any paper bag to cook pop corn in the microwave. by slynkin LifeProTips

[–]myangryinch 0 points1 point ago

This is a great alternative if you eat microwave popcorn, there's all sorts of unhealthy stuff in those bags that is actually being made illegal to use starting in 2015.
