  1. Your boss isn't the head of the most powerful political body in Europe.
  2. You don't live in the 16th century.

I'm not talking about black holes. I'm talking about being unable to predict eclipses, the phases of the moon, the motion of Mars across Earth's sky.

Astronomers were able to use Ptolymy's theories predict where jupiter would be in the sky hundreds of years in advance - they couldn't do that with heliocentrism until Kepler figured out the source of the errors.

If you can provide citations indicating that a significant percentage of Europeans thought the world was flat, I'd love to see them.

Despite the way it's portrayed in modern literature, Galileo's view of the solar system did not match the observations made by astronomers and could not predict the future positions of the planets - but the geocentric models derived from the Ptolemaic system could.

It wasn't till Kepler realized the orbits were ellipses that heliocentrism was able to accurately predice planetary motions.

The biggest problem with heliocentrism was that it was actually less accurate at predicting the positions of the planets than the Ptolemaic system.

Apparently tons of redditors think exactly that, which is hysterical because Siri works the same way Vlingo and all the other packages work, too. That's why voice recognition only works if you have a data connection.

I didn't see any place in that article that says Apple collects the data long term.

Because the voice system sends your voice out over the internet to a big datacenter, where bigger computers than your phone convert your voice into text and send the text back.

Seriously, I cannot believe how few redditors understand this. It's not like Apple ever hid what was going on - and all the other voice recognition software for phones does the same thing.

Silently. Right. Except it's always been completely clear that Siri simply records what you say then sends it to Apple's data center for speech-to-text processing.

Which, by the way, is exactly how all the competing products work.

As I mentioned elsewhere - how did you think it worked? Reddit has talked for years about how Apple had to create a special data center, and how that data center was just for processing Siri requests...

Your not a large corporation that, in theory, competes with Apple.

The apple user agreement isn't actually any different from Google's or Vlingo's.

Your understanding is incorrect. The president can propose a budget, but the final budget is created and approved by Congress.
