You must be fun around here.

I just ordered a 3D Printer by KClericoin INTP

[–]octoquake 2 points3 points ago

It might be the coffee talking, but this sounds like the most amazing idea ever. I'm glad I am learning to understand my behavior as an INTP or I would buy this immediately then run out of pet projects after I've worn it out. That and not having the money for it.

I'll stop trying to convince myself I would regret having one of these now, because I know I won't ever win that argument.

I think re-adding the sword is better for me because even going that quickly I manage to pass over one or two level 50s before stopping myself in time.

Community's video game episode pays tribute to a glitch we all know and love. by The_Snigin gaming

[–]octoquake 4 points5 points ago

Oh, that was a great episode. Like I said though, the way they approached that reference is much different from how Big Bang Theory would. Big bang theory would rely on somebody knowing something about the idea it is referencing, as lame as the joke about it may be. Community makes the reference a fun adventure which allows you to forget about the base idea it is building on. Community incorporates that original idea a little less explicitly but much more intricately.

Jeb has added a new block! by funnyusername96in Minecraft

It wouldn't seem very satisfying to just have a new "enchanting" anvil which would have to be used separately from the table unless there were more upgrades added. Maybe the problem is that I am thinking of the table as being magical, whereas the anvil would have to add a more tangible property. Maybe the anvil could double as a tool repair station so you could repair tools with just one or two blocks of the acting edge.

I think I ought to just let those more creative than I consider the usefulness of possible additions to the game.

[–]octoquake 10 points11 points ago

I might be mistaken, but I think it would be a block which could funnel items into a chest without having to pick them up and store them manually.

[–]octoquake 1 point2 points ago

I feel like that would then require a whole set of new upgrades achievable through the anvil. What else could be added other than sharpening?

To be fair, the subject matter is a bit different. I enjoy the physics "focus" on Big Bang Theory. As lame as it may be, I love that there are plenty of jokes about particle physics and such. I don't remember Community ever trying to have a similar approach, nor would it be fitting of them.

I remember reading about this. Looks like it has been almost entirely dismissed due to its failure to make any predictions of the locations of oil deposits, though.

Does anybody else feel they get worse when people realise that they are anxious? by trancemonkeyin Anxiety

[–]octoquake 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, usually my anxiety is more of a tool I use and it isn't uncomfortable. That is so long as I am able to act as quickly as my mind is racing. It's great for work because my mind is so occupied with what I am doing that if I stay on track there is no problem. The panic attacks are very rare and I'm still not quite sure what initially sets them off, but once they are coming at me I face the weakness of people setting it off by asking about it.

[–]octoquake 0 points1 point ago

Well the problem was there was nothing wrong but her insistent asking about whether there was something wrong caused there to be something wrong. Does that make sense?

[–]octoquake 1 point2 points ago

Well the other night I was on the computer putting in my ticket. When I'm on the computer I tap my fingers on the screen a lot as I am thinking and looking for the items I need. Somebody else walks by and says to me, "Jesus, octoquake, you're making me anxious just watching you right now." At which point I hadn't even considered that I was anxious, had to take into consideration what he had said to me, and it caused me to take a few moments to gather my thoughts again and get back to putting items in.

When it comes to dropping glasses, I never have before from getting the thought in my own head but I think it is tied a lot to something I've read about INTP type personalities (which I am) in that they fear that ideas alone can be destructive. So I feel like so long as I don't consider my anxiety, even if it is present, I can avoid it actually manifesting itself. I could describe something similar happening in a past relationship. The girl I was dating would frequently ask about the status of the relationship (if things were going okay, was something bothering me, etc...). There wouldn't have been a problem, but I saw the probing as a sort of feedback loop.

Yeah, that makes sense. I just felt like I took your discussion and made it all about my own.

Do you feel guilty for being anxious? Sorry, I may not have understood what you meant by that.

Well, I don't feel completely in control. It's like a controlled chaos. At any moment it could all come crashing down entirely, but so long as nobody pokes it and asks, "Are you sure that's going to hold?" I can be just fine. I even manage to do it to myself when I am carrying a bunch of glasses in one hand. I start to wonder if my hands will support them the entire way to the table and then my hands start to lose their grip because I put that idea in my head. So long as I am on a roll I can tune out that doubting paranoia that everything will go wrong.

Does anybody else feel they get worse when people realise that they are anxious? by trancemonkeyin Anxiety

[–]octoquake 1 point2 points ago

I feel the same way. I wait tables and many times when I get really busy I just start working crazy fast and it apparently makes people around me anxious because they feel like I am about to break from anxiety. The truth is I am perfectly in control and feel like I am just on some sort of natural high where I think, speak, and move as fast as I possibly can.

I don't get anxious about it until everybody else starts asking me if I am okay or remarking how anxious I must be. As people continue noticing what they think is anxiety, it starts to actually become anxiety related to resenting them for trying to convince me I am anxious in some way.

edit: I also notice that when I am on the verge of a panic attack, if somebody asks me if I am okay or if something is wrong then the attack will consume me. If they don't notice I am upset or just don't say anything I can get on just fine and overcome the attack for the most part.

So as long as you have the right ingredients, it doesn't matter if you have any experience making one or tasting one, you will get it right?
