I chose the Nook Tablet over the Fire. Lack of SD slot killed it for me.

so I'd think it'd be more productive to work on the DB Admin

The MCDBA? It looks like it consists of 4 exams, more than I thought.

Thanks.

I've casually worn a DBA hat for the last 7 years in a Linux environment and recently moved to a job with Windows server.

I'm going to guess the exams have awfully specific questions though and my experience may not help as much as I hope?

Skyrim isn't really a powerful game, you don't need a good PC to run it. Hell, Sonic Generations takes more CPU/RAM/GPU.

MUD design/development course is in need of students. by resephin UniversityofReddit

[–]reseph[S] 0 points1 point ago

If you're developing your own codebase, this might be a bit too beginner for you. I'm trying to introduce game design, logic and programming all at the same time for those who have experience with none. You'll probably find scattered information that will help though, and always ask questions & I'll do my best to answer.

It's not for the auction house, it's to prevent offline cheating which would then fill the auction house with cheated weapons.

So then why does D3's server stability (or your network stability) cause lag on your actions, monster actions, etc in single-player? There have been countless anti-cheat systems across time, and I've never seen this.

Also it's not just single player, friends can jump in/out as they please as can people anywhere if you click an option to open up the game.

You're still playing alone up until someone joins in. That's single-player. The "jump in" feature is nothing new to games, and other games did not receive this network lag in single player like D3 does.

[–]reseph 5 points6 points ago

WoW and D3 are incomparable. WoW is a MMORPG, D3 is not. WoW has to constantly make server-client queries to determine nearby players, chats, etc.

D3 single-player is... literally one player. There is no reason single-player D3 should lag, server-based auction houses or not. There is no reason for D3 to query a server for an AH when you're in the field fighting, etc.

[–]reseph 4 points5 points ago

That uh doesn't really answer my question.

I've never seen anything that bad. Obviously someone with network issues on their side.

But... it's single-player, that shouldn't matter. For example, right now I'm downloading off Steam at 2.3MB/sec, my ping about 300ms due to that. So if I were to play D3 on single-player, I would lag.

[–]reseph 3 points4 points ago

How so? I haven't played D3 at all, because single-player lags.
